  1. OK. Nice work mardi. So you are putting them up after the races too now?
  2. Remind me. What year was that? I'm talking about this week. And was it before or after the races that you tossed those out?
  3. Good of you to put that up after the races Thommo. Sorry wrong horse. No gear changes. Just value BEFORE the race.
  4. Oh bugger. Another 6 value bets put up there yesterday and one rolls home at 16/1. Yet again it was BEFORE the races.
  5. I'm a bit disappointed. The Ukranian women have disappeared and now I'm getting ads for blinds and real estate. What gives?
  6. No. I'm getting the chance to meet Ukranian ladies now.
  7. Yip. Not a handicap so ratings irrelevant. 7.4Set Weight and Penalty (SWP) RacesIn SWP races weights are determined by a system of fixed penalties for winning performances. These penalties are set out in the race conditions. Conditions may vary from one SWP race to another and are advertised in the Thoroughbred Racing Monthly (TRM)magazine.
  8. The bizarre thing about that is they asked me to do that analysis. With mardi's assistance we did it pro bono. It told them exactly what their chief handicapper of the time told them in the preliminary meeting. Still they didn't believe it. Fortunately for him, the handicapper was able to move on to greener pastures shortly thereafter.
  9. I didn't know value was directly related to price, I thought it was about the relationship of price to chance? I don't remember any mention of that in the BP bible.
  10. It's good to see you have finally grasped the idea of searching for value. Any BP UNDERBET selections for us today?
  11. Yes. As a taxpayer I'd rather see that money go to the likes of health, education or as I suggested above, employment in productive industries that need it. Alternatively, to reducing taxes.
  12. No. More like the two of clubs. Of course, if they took those people (however many there actually are, and redeployed them to productive industries like horticulture and construction, that woul be a far greater benefit to the economy and they could use say $100m a year of the money they currently give to racing to fund any retraining and redeployment.
  13. I remember those discussions at the time and I think was skeptical of your view initially though was quickly convinced and have watched the evidence pile up ever since. The silly thing is they haven't learned and now are adding a suite of new betting products thinking that will increase punter spending when all it will do is further dilute the spend on NZ racing.
  14. Ūp to speed quickly ATA. That's it in a nutshell.
  15. Whatever it's failings, it is quite clear on the simple procedure for ensuring all horses are loaded before the start is effected and that failing to ensure that is not a criterion for a false start. This was a dual fuck up. No excuses.
  16. Sure. Maybe a remote "all loaded" button to do that if they can't manage it by more simple communication channels.
  17. Is Shirley the name of the new Princess?
  18. NZTAB have him at 20s!
  19. Completely different issue IMO.
  20. I possibly agree but that's a different issue, not the one at hand here which is very straight forward.
  21. Dead on and so simple to substantively sort in 5 minutes.
  22. This is nothing to do with a horse not behaving. The starter released the field with one horse not loaded. There is a simple specified procedure to prevent that. It only requires two staff to effect, the starter and one other designated person behind the barrier. It is not a matter of resourcing or complexity. It's a matter of defiance and incompetence that this occured. Full stop.
  23. The assistant starter surely in this case?
  24. Sounds a pretty straight forward job for an assistant starter to me. How hard could it be? Not too difficult to understand in the manual either. Seems like plain English. Don't see what occluded vision has to do with it. The required procedure is designed to preclude that risk isn't it?
  25. It would reduce travel time and costs which are a bit of a killer down there, so that would be a plus. My fear likewise though is that it will reduce participation in those areas, and revenue, when considerably more revenue will be needed to fund and maintain an all weather.
