  1. So you are telling me there is no difference in turnover for a race meeting with with same stakes at Westland v Ashburton?
  2. I’m not sure how that will pan out, but it may not be as bad as we think....Time will tell i guess. I dont have the exact number but i think there is about 50 - 60 race meeting a year in the Sth Island......if 10 of those are on AWT, will be interesting how that balances out vs the past small turnover race meets?
  3. Are you really that stupid Nomates.......turnover figures and horse number figures on those tracks/clubs/days in question say it all....less punters and less owners......what more FIGURES do you need.
  4. The cost to the industry....let’s keep with our Westland example....if that Westland Race meeting was held at say Timaru (which I believe should stay open) or Ashburton or Riccarton , etc would the Off Course turnover achieved industry average? Prob yes....and that’s before we even look at export turnover..... That is the cost......I mentioned it a few days ago...Opportunity Cost. Totally agree with you on the platform!
  5. Nomates......you just claims your small clubs off course turnover often punch’s above the big clubs......I’m telling you it doesn’t....used example Westland was 1/2 the national average. That’s not 1/2 the big clubs... its .1/2 the national average.....now you throw your toys......
  6. And yet i explain AGAIN......let me put it in very simply words......punters don't want to bet on those tracks and owners don’t want to continually travel their horses around the country to those tracks.
  7. Obviously you don't follow turnover figures....... LMAO.....go check out the stats. Off the top of my hat i think the previous Westland club off course turnover was only approx 1/2 the National average?
  8. Keep your knickers on Joe.....was just stating the obvious solution to the problem of “lack of lighting at Riccarton” you were having crack about.
  9. They last 2 years are just the warm ups......i sense the radical bit is still to come.
  10. Chief......You made a couple of comments in earlier posts around clubs not being allowed to pay higher stakes. That comment has been playing on my mind. If a club has cash reserves in the bank and wants to tip in extra $5k or $10k for every race to boost stakes at their meeting......what crazy justification did NZTR give for not allowing that? To me it defies logic?
  11. Exactly the same as what’s going to happen if we dont make radical change
  12. Who ever said all horse are to be trained at Riccarton? As chief mention earlier free market forces. But stop and think where most of the horses are already trained. Did Hoki horses move to Ricc....no as none are trained there. If other west coats clubs get shut down will those horses move to Riccarton....no because no horse are trained on the coast. Likewise most other clubs that have gone in the past couple years.
  13. That AWT that none of you want comes with new lighting....problem solved
  14. When have i claimed the small clubs are sucking the industry dry? What i have been defending is you people on here claiming your small clubs get “no Industry support”. secondly i have been outlining the industry cant sustain the number of clubs and venues, and race meetings......owners and horse numbers are not there and they will never come back.....so time to face reality
  15. Out of curiosity how much net revenue does West Coast racing “prop up the big days”?
  16. It’s a good idea and works well.....they do it at Kurow
  17. Gee how predictable someone would come back with that. So on your net revenue bases Freda, we would cancel cup day, the derby, karaka million, hell you may as well cancel the oaks while your at it. Then we can all run around in 7 horse fields at reefton 10 times a year. I wonder how long the remaining owners and punters stay in the game then. I may as well go outside and talk to the sheep, they would make more sense.
  18. Maybe have a look at turnover figures for those days Huey
  19. So you are bagging Cup Day, Derby Day, Karaka Million & even todays big day at Cromwell.......best you do stick to just worrying about reefton races then.
  20. You been drinking rums on a Sunday afternoon? You would have no racing industry if you did that.
  21. So a calendar that is changing every year.....crazy Chief
  22. No does not have to be Kumara.......you guys cant fight on that one...your pretty good at that
  23. Because their industry is growing.....ours is shrinking
  24. Curious.....the industry is not self sustainable.... we are reliant on sports betting and off shore.
  25. How many days a year do you go to Riccarton Shad?
