  1. Are we not still waiting on the outcome of animal cruelty charges for a galloping training in the Sth Island? I just went on the RIB website and they only have decisions up to 29th July, what’s with that, they must need more money to keep their website updated.
  2. Surely there is no chance RV can give him a licence to train. What’s the point of having animal welfare policies if they do?
  3. Be careful what you hope for, NZTR might now ‘fast track’ their venue plan……throw money at the ‘strategic venues’ to being up to scratch quicker, then sell off the unwanted land sooner to recover funds
  4. Looking at the summer calendar (Dec, Jan, Feb) the Sth Island is clearly being cheated out of opportunities for 2yr old and 3yr old races Sth Island - 8 races for age group (2yr and 3yr olds) Nth Island - 73 races for age group (2yr and 3yr olds) Note 21 race meetings during this period in the Sth and 53 race meetings in the nth. Sth island has 28.4% of the race meetings during this period yet they only have 9.8% of the 2yr and 3yr old races. My understanding is the infamous CEO at CJC controls all things race programming down south, why would anyone race young horses down Sth with such a poor program. Anyone wanting to buy yearlings or breed horses, why would they race them down south? Where is the incentive from the CEO of CJC to get young horses into the South Island race system?
  5. Thats crazy, given membership base is dropping, they should be advertising for new members at any stage of the year.
  6. Is the CJC board aware of why their membership base is shrinking so fast? From latest financial accounts (membership income): 2022 - $195k 2021 - $227k 2020 - $237k Yet more questions the board should be asking their CEO
  7. You are spot on, programming for 2yr old and 3yr old horses in Sth island is a joke. There is only one way to save the Guineas races in Sth island and that is for CJC to get off their high horse and start being innovative and proactive and i struggle to see that happening based on past history. They need to forget about a new stand, put the insurance money into a new track, tear up the current 2yr old and 3yr old calendar and design a progress thoughtful race program for younger horses racing on a “Premier Grade” racing surface. If they dont do this NOW, then kiss goodby to the Guineas and even worse, 1/2 the owners down in the Sth Island who invest in young race horse. Those owners will become members of ARC with P WILLY. Then they can just classify CJC as a bush club.
  8. My understanding is Tim Mills controls the decisions on the race programming. Many things have been proposed for change but it never happens.
  9. CJC Score Card (annual basis not just Cup Day) Track Quality - Fail Course infrastructure - Fail Race Day Customer Experience - Fail Raceday Programming - Fail Innovation - Fail
  10. Because CJC need 10 weeks summer holidays each year! It’s a disgrace no feature meeting at Riccarton over this period, but hay CJC get to have a extended merry Xmas.
  11. Chief, what a ridiculous comparison, surely you can come up with better argument than that to defend TA….. or maybe not🤷‍♂️
  12. Cup day at Riccarton tickets now on sale, $100 ticket gets you entry through the gates and access to the ‘club stand’…………the only stand in action! That’s a lot of beers and punting money at local pub!
  13. $25 to watch synthetic racing and one jumps race……. How can CJC justify that……they have obviously lost the plot.
  14. $125 per day……what is he smoking. If that happens NZB better get a few more planes as every 2nd horse in NZ would be moved to Aus to race.
  15. What a joke, the next Saturday race meeting in South Island not until 25th June, then another 6 weeks until the next Saturday meeting for the Sth Island folk. So only 2 Saturday meetings over the next 13 weeks down there.
  16. Think its a different matter to the animal cruelty charges …. So he is in double hot water now.

Only 61 horses starting for this race meeting today. People say low noms for Riccarton due to being lower stakes, but lets compare to Timaru last Thursday, that meeting had 112 horses run.
  18. The real question is why do we have Synthetic racing starting 5th May at Riccarton. Tracks are good and usually are for another month, so why the need for Synthetic racing now? Given they have synthetic racing at Riccarton every 2 weeks for the next 4 months why not start it in June?
  19. Is it compete, if so so big changes??
  20. Some numbers for racing today at Te Rapa today: $470k of stakes on offer 10 races Only 73 horses starting Ave field size 7.3 Only one race with more than 9 starters

  22. Ashburton mid week racing and they schedule a Open 1600, Open 1200 and a Rating 74 1400. Where do they think all these horses are going to come from to fill those races at a mid week meeting. Now lets dig deeper: Open 1600 - 4 horses nominated and only 1 is above 70 rating Open 1200 - 5 horses nominated and only 3 are above 70 rating Rating 74 1400 - 11 horses nominated (will be a good race if all start) There is also a rating 65 1600 race. One of the 4 horses nominated in the Open 1600 is a rating 63 horse so could have started in the rating 65 1600 Why do the powers to be continually waste Industry money with such poor programming?
  23. BOOK 1 average was higher (due to higher demand for top end stock) but clearance rate was lower! Also The book 1 aggregate was actually lower than 2020 and 2019 No I didn’t have a yearling in book 2…..I’m not that crazy.
