Aren't they running the Manikato or the Championship sprint next year...or is the Everest going to be run...left handed?🤪

Imperatriz isn't a big mare.  16 hands just! -  standing on a stone.  Thoroughbreds keep growing until they're 6 yrs old.

No horse has won more Group 1s in the world this year than Imperatriz.

So aim for some more black type doing what's right for the horse and bank that residual value.

12 months from here if she comes up better than this year......why not round off her career with The Everest?

Sadly you don't accept what is written.....well before now.

Now you are a self-proclaimed expert on most things answer this:

If you owned an available slot what would you offer Te Akau to have Imperatriz as your runner?

Absolutely!But sadly you do not appear to understand the reasons TA  have presented as to why the Everest is unsuitable for this 5.y.o mare.

I am starting to think the whole charade is just a publicity stunt for TA to keep their name in lights in the Australian racing media.=marketing the ...'brand'.

That is absolute BULLSHIT.

Do you know the one reason why Te Akau are so successful?

Yeah I think they mean business alright. Just interviewing the/a stable rep on todays coverage from Pakenham gallops and he said they are starting with 20 , but want to expand immeadiately to 60 to 80 horses to get established quickly and recognised every week. So will train for anyone interested and not just the 'usual' TA syndicates and TA stakeholders .

That article is unsubstantiated and ridiculous. It says horses reach 90% of their mature height at 2. So a 16hh 2yo is going to grow another 6"? Hahaha. Very funny.

It was the first one I could find.  Why do they have to get taller?  I was told they continue to muscle up and strengthen.

Well you're are correct most site owners would resent being beaten up on a daily basis...but maybe,just maybe you will get something right...eventually.

Beaten up by a wet feather!  In your dreams.

I only counter punch off your prejudices that are not based on any FACTS...look at your dialogue with Curious..your defence...'my trainer told me'!

If you are going to quote me at least do it right - I said trainers - plural.  As for your facts, they are generally prejudices and fiction based on ideology!

Why would it be a Te Akau charade?  The whole The Everest concept is a marketing charade!  Don't you understand that?  Te Akau haven't been promoting Imperatriz's involvement in the Everest.  Every sponsor, NSW Racing, Journalist, Bookie and fans such as yourself have been promoting the "charade!!!!

Te Akau's Racing Manager and Trainer have been consistent with their messaging around Imperatriz taking a slot in the race.  You and others with a vested interest have continued with the intrigue.

I'm not even sure you understand how the concept of The Everest works.  Let's make is simple for you to understand:

If Imperatriz was to secure a slot one of the following would have had to happen:

  1. Te Akau had paid $2.1 million to acquire a slot (assuming one was available).  That's the up front cost at $700k per year.  TA then decided that Imperatriz was their best option for the race and entered;
  2. Te Akau leased a slot for this year's race from an existing slot holder - e.g. presumably the EntainNZ approach where they leased from Inglis.  I would imagine the cost would be greater than $700k as Inglis like any slot holder would be keen to get a return on their investment and leasing the slot (depending on agreed T's and C's) would mean no return if the horse won;
  3. An existing slot holder negotiated with Te Akau to race in their slot e.g. Coolmore or Yulong.  Now that would involve a negotiation over how the stakes were shared - again a business decision would be made and the slot holder would be expecting a return that mitigates their risk.  They have to run first or second in one of the three years to get a return.  So I imagine the share taken by the slot holder would be $1m minimum.  The share could be a fixed amount or a percentage;
  4. Further to 3 above the deal may have been sweetened in various ways -
    • Coolmore could have offered lifetime stallion services for Imperatriz;
    • Yulong could have offered to buy Imperatriz prior to the race.

Plus any number of variations of the above.

At the end of the day Te Akau have obviously done what they feel is right for the horse at this stage of her career.  Next season could well be her last and if her form continues I imagine they may entertain running in The Everest.  However if she wins the Manikato that will give her 3 OZ Group 1 wins and 7 in total.  I would say her residual value is already high up on the following list and in the $4m mark.  Her dam sold for AUD$1.8m at the Inglis Sale in May this year.
