Brodie
Auckland Friday night is going head to head with Addington that is back! Stakes for the 10 races at Auckland is $159k but there is an average of only 7 horses across the 10 races at Auckland! This is going to be just another meeting that is going to be another meeting that is going to lose money and surely this needs to stop? To make it even worse they have persisted with a night of many 1609metre races, which is a borefest and wont entice wagering!

So just 2 nz harness and 1 nz dishliker meeting on channel 62 ?
mikeynz
Saturday arvo for gallops, Friday night for trots, Sunday one of each, not sure about Entain wanting Mondays and Tuesday mini meets but I did notice in draft calander for next year hardly any Saturday meetings and mostly Thursdays for Southern harness. Be nice if they could find a Friday and Sunday in June maybe to reinstate the Nelson meeting, gee maybe even follow up with a day in Blenhiem too just to add variety. Only one more sleep until we hear "all dressed up and nowhere to go".......at the "Ribbon of light"..... It would also be remiss of me not to mention the Magic Man, The Ice Man, The Post Man and mustn't forget The Chief.

Why does he call Auckland “”ribbon of Light”?

Personally, I think he does a much better job with the galloper's than harness. Would be a positive if he just called the races rather than attempt to curry favour with drivers or set trends. I cross paths with many in the game and I can put hand on heart and say I've never heard anyone else call David Butcher "The Chief" ....or refer to Alexandra Park as the "Ribbon of light".....in my not so humble view it adds absolutely nothing to the harness experience yet he reaches for it at every opportunity. Please, just call the far king races

I forgot about "The Wizard"....haha It is fortunate that only the best drivers are at Alexandra Park. Matt Cross is lucky all the drivers in the South Island are so ordinary that he doesn't need to come up with pointless pet names for them Mind you, I always liked the name "Birdshit" for Richard. Not sure how he felt about it. Imagine how it would have sounded in the 1979 Interdominion Trotters Final if Reon decided to change the name "No Response"....for "Birdshit".....and here's Birdshit flying through the middle

Brodie
Maybe cos the fields are so small in Auckland he needs to add the Bs names to fill in the space? Not sure the names are that accurate either at the moment?

It's getting that way Brodie....maybe in the next few seasons we'll see two horse match races and he can tell a long winded story about The Iceman and The Chief so we don't fall asleep. How riveting would that be

AUCKLAND fields are great this Week.?? surely you have to agree ? 😅🤣😂 You want to shut the place down ? but a 10 race card this week looks WAY Better than Addington?. will the 'Brodster Bias' kick in again ? The 3 yearold race looks good? . a very nice lot of horses. You'll probably say the FFA is crap even though it has the double NZ FFA winner and NZ Derby winner in it ? Great stuff mate. even with Hot and Treacherous and South Coast Arden and a host of others racing in Australia now , you can still have some quality horses at Auckland. You must be pleased with the Ribbon of Light ??? good on em . Great meeting .

Wouldnt say the fields are worth punting on and Addington fields are more attractive for this purpose. The racing at Addington will be far more interesting than Auckland in my humble opinion, and will be interesting to see who has the bigger turnover? Dont understand why they find the need to have both competing against each other racing on the same night, as there is only so many$ to go around on the same night?
