There is a problem at the moment with many New Zealand citizens in that they believed every word and action that Labour Losers enforced on them! I have realised just how easily led so many people are and need to be controlled unfortunately. The other thing is that the country has never been so divided and this has been caused by the looney left ideas, and these actions by Ardern and Robertson have set the country back decades. There is this element of discontent from the people who are not as well off financially as others and they do not think this is fair!!! So they want the people who are more financially better off to give them their wealth! Well there is a reason that most people who are financially well off, and that is that they deserve to be, they work harder, make better choices and dont continually moan about how unfair everything is!!! That is not an insult, just the reality. I've never considered myself a "rightie"....my parents were blue collar workers so voted for Labour who they believed represented the working man / woman. Prior to 2020, I'd never voted once. I've always been cynical of all political parties. My youngest son was 18 in 2020 and could cast his first vote and did. I voted for the first time motivated mostly by the two important referendums. I felt National were mostly onto things fiscally but was cynical of their "Rock Star Economy" when I was seeing more and more people struggle. I felt bean counters were indifferent to their plight and wasn't a fan of Judith Collins so I put my party vote in for.....Labour. I'm an idealist and felt Ardern had a social conscience. I'm embarrassed to say that now but authenticity and transparency are important. I did what I thought was right at the time. You describe the country as being "fuked" and you're right. Governments have made a pigs ear of things but what Labour did was obscene in so many areas and a new low. They did one thing very successfully via their agenda. They divided our beautiful country. Virtually every appointment made was virtue signaling. The relentless prioritizing of everything Maori has been a train wreck for NZ. It's also created a strong sense of entitlement for many Maori that if they play their cards right and say the right thing, more lollies will come their way. Do you think that's been happening? Perhaps in an echo chamber of socialists their agenda was a sound plan but in reality it was divisive carnage. Race relations need to be handled with care and respect for all parties. Labour skipped right over that all important step. Everyone in my world supported the pro-equity journey especially in health. Now six + years later you'd have more success finding rocking horse poo than finding anyone in my circle that support anything associated with Labour. The way it's been implemented was divisive, hugely expensive and like virtually everything Labour did, ineffective. Even many of the people they had buy-in with have since gone cold. Many that don't or can't see that have not been at the coal face and experienced the reality day in day out. Labour's plan to drop the prison population by 30% sounded good to them but it's been a racist catastrophe that has changed NZ permanently. That 30% was intended to be mostly the poor old Maori. How do you suddenly keep 3000 Maori offenders out of prison? We are talking about serious offenders and that should never be overlooked. You do it by downgrading their serious offending so they qualify for home detention and you also have the courts gifting out sentence reductions until home detention comes into view. I have a friend in Auckland who was robbed in 2021 by several Maori offenders. The level of "terror" with the incident traumatized his staff. Several left soon after. Their only comfort was the offenders being caught two days later.......only to have their serious charges downgraded to keep the offenders out of prison. Total insult to my friend and to his staff........but the message sent and received to all other similar offenders including gangs was there is a free pass waiting for them. Ginny Anderson was both Police Minister and Minister of Justice. She stated Prison is no place for Maori. Really? That statement implies that Prison is an ok place for Non Maori. It also highlights more of Labour's ideology that could only ever work in an echo chamber. End result now for many New Zealanders is they believe their country is less safe. Thanks for nothing Labour. Poto Williams was an abomination as a Police Minister and our worst ever in that important role. She sat on her hands while ram-raids got into full swing. Ardern farcically stated she still had full confidence in Williams. Nek minute when it became even more embarrassing to Ardern she sent Williams packing. She stated Williams had lost her focus. Beep! wrong! How does a Police Minister lose focus during a diabolical crime wave? They don't. Williams never had any focus as she was totally unsuitable for the position from day one. She is what happens when you appoint someone because they are both female and Maori. Virtue signaling failure. Justice Minister Kiri Allan is Maori, female and lesbian. Three virtue signaling boxes ticked. How did that work out? etc etc etc New Zealanders have been leaving our beautiful country in record numbers. Why? We have record immigration despite record homelessness. Many of the immigrants Labour signed off on are light years away from being high skilled individuals. ....but they will all need a home, during a housing crisis. The way Labour managed the Covid Pandemic was appalling. Started off ok when we didn't know what would / could happen next and then it became an obscene abuse of power. I know of numerous highly skilled nurses that were sacked for refusing the Covid Vaccine. These in some cases were nurses that were involved in previous immunization campaigns and had supported vaccines. The extended 2021 lockdown in Auckland in August 2021 where we lived was a complete farce. The implications there were far reaching. During the 2023 election campaign, Winston Peters made a statement that almost everyone on planet Earth would have previously totally agreed with. He said female toilets and changing rooms need to be a safe place for women and girls. ...Chris Hipkins stated Peters was inciting hatred toward the trans community. That is the same man who only got fired up during the leaders debates when two subjects came up. Prioritizing Maori and LBGT. If you look at virtually every photo of Hipkins during the 2023 election campaign you'll see him virtue signaling. Post election he then farcically states he doesn't know what he could have done differently to win the election. He can't be serious? One of the unintended consequences of virtually everything Labour did was to push voters elsewhere.....including me. The main reason National , ACT and NZF are now in Government is Labour did such a diabolically bad job. Some of the carnage caused is now set in stone. Our media and many others pointing the finger of blame at the new Government are looking in the wrong area. If Labour had respected the election mandate gifted to them in 2020, they'd still be in office. National, ACT and NZF were also given an election mandate. Put right what Labour got so badly wrong. My support for National is not unconditional but they are light years a better option at this time than Labour. I'm pleased they are addressing tenancy laws for landlords that were so heavily titled toward tenants, even diabolically bad tenants. I'm not impressed with the Police pay offer especially coming off the back of landlords being looked after so promptly. That's as tone deaf as it gets. I have trust issues with Luxon. He has a habit of either not answering questions or giving the same answer for different questions. His claiming of 50k as a housing subsidy for a home he owns highlights two things. One is a broken system open to rorting and two, how politicians enjoy feathering their own nest via the tax payer at the very time they are telling everyone else the country needs them to tighten their belts. Bill English when Minister of Finance did exactly the same thing. John Key pulled him up saying it wasn't a good look. In reality, this rort is widespread but it's only the higher profile hypocrites you hear about. Luxon stated he would return the money he'd claimed for housing SINCE becoming the PM. ....because it had become a distraction. Not because it was so wrong but because it's a distraction. Really? I assume he has been claiming that allowance since he became an MP in 2020 and especially so since becoming the leader of the opposition in 2021. Why is he not paying that back or even being asked about it when the circumstances I assume were similar? I do however overall feel Luxon has done a good job in very difficult circumstances and has scope to become a very good PM. Hipkins was never going to be a good PM. Despite reservations I do support the new coalition Government who have enormous carnage to clean up. They are being misrepresented and attacked every step of the way by our inept and totally bias woke media and vested interest groups. My support will drop off if our Police and Primary Health Care professionals are not finally looked after and respected via their salary despite promises to do so. Both groups have already waited far to long. Next time you're unhappy about the new Government, look at why they are there. Relentless, costly and divisive Labour failures. Yes, Trump can put his foot in his mouth at times but he's an apex leader at the very time one is required big time. He's never been credited with all the good he achieved as POTUS.
