OMF Stakes...Group 3 racing?

Recommended Posts

On Cup day Ellerslie held the Group 3 OMF Stakes. A very ordinary field. Lizzie L'Amour went out a very dominant favourite after running a great 2nd to Savvy Coup at Hastings in her last start. Stablemate Saint Emillion, a very good horse, also in the race, less well supported.

You know the result.

I checked out the Stipendiary Stewards report with interest. All it says is....wait for it...' Lizzie L'Amour slow away'....bullshit!!  She was not slow out, she was dragged back to last while her stablemate went to the lead. This was a terrible ride by M Cameron on the favourite. He did not show any initiative  at any stage of the race...at about the 800m he realised he was being too clever and tried to send his mount around the field...she eventually was a fair 2nd while the stablemate won...

What do you think would have taken place if this was raced at Flemington/Randwick/Mullabong or wherever across the ditch?  The trainers/owners/riders would have all been hauled into the Stewards room, questioned over tactics, Cameron would have been grilled for his lack of intiative ( a senior rider ?) questions over betting would have been asked..what do we get? Nothing. Bloody disgraceful But thats what you get when you have a bunch of time servers led by an incompetent.  I didn't back anything in the race. Just disgusted at the sham that is 'integrity' in racing here.

Come in Thomas...at least you weren't afraid to ask the hard questions.

Same ride he gave Son Of Mahar at Riccarton a couple of weeks ago , same weak ass questions asked , same weak ass answers given , he was in the media complaining of social media backlash , well sometimes you can make it too easy . Would have copped it over the rails coming back to scale in Aussie no mamby pamby social media . Not supporting bullying in any form either but sometimes you just have to accept you cocked up and cop it on the nose .

Not casting any suspicions on Baker/Forsman. or the owners of the 2 horses...however Saint Emilion finished last ( 13/13) at its previous start, leads virtually all the way at Ellerslie and not a question? Cameron lets Lilly L'Amour drift out to about 3 lengths last? c'mon, how come none of the Stipes on duty thought about asking some questions..?

You're right of course....

Lets face it though....the way our 'good ole' boy Feds rule...Punters were lucky to get "LL was awkwardly away"...FFS

LL is a trail horse... never races further back than midfield...you could argue being such a small field snagging back to last was 'midfield'

...but as you point out the gap became massive and he knows SE so well...

Cameron had every opportunity to settle 4th with cover from the start...and the very least it deserved a "wtf were you doing"?

...and as you say the winner questioned after the reversal...

Some of these boys have been in the job way too long and one only needs to observe how friendly they are with some Jocks around the traps...it's human nature ...but they need to be better than that

They're very sensitive to criticism still...and that's good to see

After Bruce Sherwin strongly questioned the ride of GIOVANNI CAVALETTO on Weigh In..."that run had Trial written all over it"

Oatham dragged Collett in at HQ on Tuesday for a slap

Racing Tauranga - Saturday 3 November 2018
Race 6 - Chesters Plumbing & Bathroom 1300
GIOVANNI CANALETTO
(S Collett) - Rider S Collett was questioned regarding her riding tactics advising that her instructions had been to ride the gelding, which was having its first start for some 2 1⁄2 years, quietly in the early stages with the intention to ride for luck if necessary. S Collett further advised that after beginning fairly the gelding had been hampered shortly after the start and had raced a little ungenerously in the early to middle stages making contact with the running rail near the 700 metres and laying in early in the final straight but once fully balanced had worked home well. Whilst noting the explanation of S Collett she was advised that her lack of vigour between the 400 metres and 250 metres had been of concern when in the Stewards view she should have made more effort to track YOUR WAY into the race.

But it happens far too often...you'll hear every race day on Trackside

"were just treating this race as a trial"

ffs...that's why the Australian rule of notifying change of tactics is imperative here

In a recent meeting Jelly told Punters that's what they did with Media Sensation...

...after the race...

Thats just b/s...if the Racing industry wants to encourage Punters to stick around...

...that's punting INTEGRITY 101 right there...Australian officials know it...we wouldn't have a f in clue

Too true..

Cameron's got a shocking history...

Last year you may remember he was asked by Stipes about a mount's performance

" needs it wetter"

Then told Baker/Forsman the truth...

"I thought she'd put her foot in a hole..may have broken down...so I eased up on her"

Camo got found out when both Baker/Fors told the same story on the radio

The Feds simply ignored the massive variation in stories..

He along with a number of Senior Jocks are the Feds pets...

In a recent JCA careless riding charge silly old Alan Coles...every ones best buddy...said J Waddell had an "improving record" when it came to Careless Riding

The JCA panel looked at the actual record and said "b/s"

2 within 2 weeks...6 for the year..."that ain't improving"

Wrong code isn't it....?

However...if it was a 'fix' then it was a bloody awful one. I don't believe the race was rigged, just astounded that the so-called raceday experts on the riu couldn't be bothered or werent up to asking any questions. I reckon that Bernie and the lap doggodber read this,so come on you two, can't you see the need for a much closer look at this race than has been accorded it ?

The only hope is when Sherwin questions the ride on Weigh In this week...

...and surely he will...being 'Independent' and unencumbered being a non Jockey agent ...

Geurin is too matey with his Jockey mates...and Shelton will just be dreaming about Cup Day....on Tuesday

Stewards adjourn enquiry into defeat of $1.50 hot pot....

No, not here, this was Rosehill on Saturday..." A perceived lack of vigour aboard odds on favourite Roheryn has landed jockey Josh Parr in hot water at Rosehill on Saturday...chief Steward Marc Van Gestel asked PARR " do you not hink you could have put your horse under more pressure earlier?"

Betting figures, riding instructions, riders interviews are ongoing, while films are being further analysed...

Read this and weep you NZ stewards...your abysmal effort after the race at Ellerslie only confirms your ineptness and lack of ability when a 'senior' rider is under the spotlight..easy pickings on apprentices and battlers eh?

This lack of competence, the lack of judicious review and the ability to lay down the law is half the problem with NZ racing. To learn from the forums there was no TC02 testing in the NI, sends shivers down my spine.

This problem organisation is at the core when it comes to the integrity of NZ racing.

Forget the Messara Report, for the NZTR Calender updates....this is the major problem with NZ racing...

Owners, trainers and punters are being taken for  ride...and it’s about time owners stood up to the RIU and demanded action.

You learnt from me actually malted...

They did a few last week in the North....but compared to the Sth Is...testing even on minor days at Oamaru...

Its simply bizarre...Pitman asked them wtf is going in?

They replied they're working on it...

last week Godber said..."well actually milkshaking's not a thing in Thoroughbreds"

b/s...just ask why Australia is all over it...

...and the f in obvious one...why are you doing Industry meetings in the Sth..and hardly any Metro Auckland ones?

It's pretty clear Matty Cammo is one of their 'favoured sons'

Just look at the soft run he gave Madison prior to the G 1 win as well as this horror show

Evrn the sycophant jockey agent Rodley labelled it a "soft cock effort"...

....nil improvement until the turn...let it run home...a perfect non gut buster
