Trojan
What are the rules around track ratings? If a track is rated a S5 at 6am in the morning on raceday and it pisses down at some stage in the next 5 hours can the Stewards downgrade? How many ratings can they downgrade per race? Te Aroha yesterday went from a S5 to a S6 after race 1 then an S7 after race 2 but wait there's more... After Race 3 which was the extra race the track was retrospectively downgraded to a Heavy 8!!! Has that happened before? What time did the Stewards walk the track before race 1?
Thomass
Good point chef yes they can but they NEVER do preferring to keep their integrity intact in case they make an error What's entirely screwed though is the ridiculous fact that H10 is the limit now where H11 was dumped take Cody Cole on Monday, scratched his very good mare with rain falling through the day and couldn't scratch without being fined due to the fact H10 cant be bettered!! It shows what NZTR think about horse welfare, wanting a horse to run in conditions that could fuck her entire season up Cody screwed by $400, thanks for coming down though

So what are the protocols/rules/standards for track ratings? Seems some clubs provide penetrometer readings and others don't.

How long have you got, because I've got the lawns to do and moi's gunja patch to tend to so polly possum wont get high again tonight. Alors, they brought in the 'going stick' at great cost, after ditching the peno, which Tim Mills still does on twitter because he realises the rating system is STILL related to the pen and not the current 'moisture meter'!! Then ditched the stick for the meter! NZTR changed to the Oz system, calling the old Dead 5 SOFT, when it's patently not Retained 1, which NEVER occurs except at Tow Poo on a dry Xmas, but ditched H11, which happens every other weekend in winter! All in the mistaken belief Australian punters would 'invest' more here! incredibly the new 'improved' Oz system includes an extra Heavy!! 8,9,10...which punters HATE 'investing' on but which occurs far more frequently in NZ than Oz ffs. What do you expect?

All The Aces
Surely it is not rocket science. Club: Racing Te Aroha Date: Wednesday, 30 October 2024 Weather: Showery Track: Soft 5, downgraded to Soft 6 retrospective to Race 1, Soft 7 retrospective to Race 2, Heavy 8 following the James & Annie Sarten Memorial What does it say the weather was like? Answer "Showery" If they had some heavy showers after scratching time then obviously the track will deteriorate or do people stand out on the track with umbrellas? Looking at the times of the races suggest it wasn't too bad. The three mdn 1400m R3 R4 R9 were all 1:26.
