Need to know

Recommended Posts

Look its obvious, Entain/TAB have done a backroom deal. As for the other two codes, they are weak, only interested in themselves, shit their rompers first sign of trouble. No cavalry on the horizon for the dogs, only swarms of angry, vaxed, woke activists. Glad I lived through a time before the idiots and insane took over.  Next gallops, trots, rodeo, polo, eventing, pig hunting for the chop.

Just think of the rent money it’s going to cost trots

The trots don't matter to what you're facing.

Winston has said it's going to be shut down due to high injury rates.

That needs to be 100% of GRNZ's focus to have any chance.

New starting boxes won't help. New lures won't help. Yes, they are nice to have, easy to do & keep the GRNZ board & headquarters feeling good about what they've achieved.

It's time to get uncomfortable & focus.

2024/2025 season data.

1 Aug to 11 Dec (pre-announcement) Major 2+ two times the KPI rate.

12 Dec to 22 Dec (post-announcement) Major 2+ five times the KPI rate.

Saying GRNZ is doing this or that to reduce injuries, then not getting it done, is what has got the industry here. BTW it's got worse since the T&I manager has been hired (run your own numbers).

If you can't draw a line in the sand (for instance 1 Jan 2025) and at a minimum, meet the major KPI rates that GRNZ has set from that point on out, anything else will likely be meaningless.

Spin will not change the fact major injuries are at running twice the rate as it did last season, which even then the KPI's weren't met. The days of excuses are over.

High injury rates in relation to what?

That is a completely bogus analysis.  Why don't you compare the worst day to the whole season to date?  Really ramp up your mis- and disinformation.

If you continue to post anymore of this shyte you will be put on moderation.  Your analysis is crap and isn't helping.

Long time reader, first time poster here.

It appears to me the real issue as always is Money in this case gambling revenue.

The TAB/Entain is keeping quiet as they want the Geo Block to increase margins and hence profit

As Winston has given all of the gaming duty back to the industry, The Govt now finds itself in a position of potential online casino gambling, providing a revenue stream much greater than racing, with 15 online casino licenses to be handed out, and the Govt to get the gaming duty plus GST from these (they only get GST from TAB/Entain)by closing Greyhounds down, at the same time as turbo charging online casinos and there legitimacy via a license regime not to mention allowing casinos to advertise, the Govt stands to win from a change of gambling habits mainly in the younger set from Race betting to casino gambling. Thus the Greyhounds are the first casualty, the other codes will be in a world of pain once the Winston years are over, as they will find it very hard to compete for the gambling dollar against 15 online casinos which will be providing the Govt of the day with much more revenue than Racing.

High injury rates compared to the KPI GRNZ that they set for themselves. After last season, they even widened the goal posts to make their KPI more achievable

22/23 6.36/1000

23/24 6.57/1000

24/25 First Quarter data as released by GRNZ.

7.93/1000, excluding the 3 additional injuries in the foot-footnotes (for the first time in reporting to the Govt)

I've compared the current GRNZ defined "Season" (Aug 01 to 31 July) previous & after the date the Govt made its announcement. I didn't choose either of those dates.

If you want to pretend there are not excess injuries, even though GRNZ's compares injuries to their own KPI, then you can do that.

That does not discredit information I provide.

Seems at least one GRNZ board member approves of my "shyte".

That's your interpretation of a "like" however it doesn't hide the fact that your statistics and the inferences you draw from them are BS.  If GRNZ give them any credence then that highlights another problem.

You compared 4 and half months to 10 days!  That is absolute bullshit.

Eh?  10 days vs 4 and a half months?  I look forward to your seeing analysis.

I wasn't really looking at that for the reason you state, but the quarterly data above shows a significant injury rate increase (p<.05) year on year from sample sizes of 9000+ starters. For those whose minds are boggled by statistics, that means that there is less than 5% chance that the increase in injury rates is due to chance. From the data I have seen, I don't see how you could possibly argue that injury rates haven't worsened in the last two seasons let alone that they have improved.

Actually, 12 Dec to 22 Dec is 11 days. All of the 11 days after the Govt's announcement.

As a man who claims to love data, that's a rather simple mistake to make.

Anyways, that was then, this is now. Updated data to include today, now 12 full days after the announcement.

To avoid any doubt, here's a more detailed list of 21 dogs that have incurred a major 1+ injury after the day of the announcement on 11 Dec.
