Have you posted Stipes report from Otaki on Dec 19th?

Well he posted the headpost after the falls at Otaki on Boxing Day, so I assumed that's what he meant.

Who knows what he meant!

Well if he was looking in the stipes report for the 19th when the falls were on the 26th, that might explain why he couldn't find any mention of it.

Yep, outside horse did slip, so maybe I was wrong, but the inside horse??

Have you still not read the stipes report even though I posted it above?

I don't understand what all the personal attacks achieve.

I haven't decided if some are angry, have a chip on their shoulder or under the influence.

It costs us all about the same to get a horse to a certain point, and it can be bloody hard for everything to go right on the day to get a win.  Then someone will say the owner is not deserving, or the horse trained itself, or the jockey pulled the wrong rein.

Does anyone think 2025 is going to bring some positivity to racing?

My attacks are not personal, I am really concerned about the training and quality of jockeys we have in NZ.

It seems some just want to get the front then slam on the brakes, it’s bloody dangerous, but it seems that I am the only one on here that is concerned about the skill of some of our jockeys, trust me it’s getting worse.

It is a real concern and we have a fairly large number of imports as a result.

I think some apprentices are allowed to ride raceday before they are ready.  I don't think a one size fits all approach is apt.  Some riders take more trial rides than others.

Yet you have had a good go at Opie Bosson and Lisa Allpress?  Pot Kettle methinks.

I stand by my comments on Opie's efforts as an experienced rider in the Hastings race.  I wouldn't consider those personal attacks.  I don't think I have commented on his personal life.

I also stand by my backing up of other's comments on Lisa's riding.  On a personal front I wouldn't have a cup of tea with her.

Well @Newmarket would argue that at least 3 of the Jockeys that hit the turf jumped off rather than fell.

As for your opinion the RIB didn't agree and on this occasion I concur with their decision.

Have you ever jumped off a horse at speed?  I couldn't think of many worse actions of choice to make from horse back.

I said it was probably what @Newmarket would say.  However I remember watching the race and thinking why did the second two fall off?

I've also seen many examples over the last few years where Jockeys have bailed leaving the birdcage when the horse has played up.  I've thought "mmmm was their first choice to bail safely or control the horse?"

Recently I saw Opie on a filly who put on a real rodeo act leaving the birdcage and around to the start.  When there he got off and led the horse around and settled it...somewhat.  He commented when back in the birdcage after the race with a big laugh - "I've never been that high on a horse before".

Perhaps rodeo or show jumping  should be mandatory training for all Apprentice Jockeys.
