First true test on Boxing Day

A lot of rain fallen in Auckland with a lot more forecast today, but race day fortunately, looks like it will be fine.

What's the update on the state of the track

Nothing on NZTR yet

I would argue that the true test was the other day when they had 50ml of rain on the day following heavy rain in the preceding days and the track was a 4 or 5 from memory. You seem to have a strange obsession with them failing Hesi

Read my post fully before you jump to conclusions

More rain today and then a clearance late afternoon before some heavy thundery showers in Xmas afternoon.

Gusty southwesterly then due to kick in with a pretty sunny Boxing Day.

The wind will certainly have a drying effect. If there isn't too much rain tomorrow afternoon then I'd be picking a Dead 5 or 6.

Just my opinion though so don't shoot me if I'm wrong.

Heavy 10 at 8.38am today. Good breeze and sunshine today and hopefully afternoon showers don't come to much.

I'm still optimistic the track will be Dead but I'm a glass half full sort of bloke.

Methinks you spilt the other half on the track -perhaps best they cancel the day and save the track.

At least a dozen slips on South Head Rd,(1 hour north of Ellerslie) enough to block one lane, never seen that before and we have been here 7 years.  So a lot of rain over a sustained period has fallen, with the last lot still to through Auckland.

If it is a dead track tomorrow Pete, then you would have to applaud the new track rennovations

Losing a bit of confidence about it right now. Peeing down in Wellsford right now.

Oh well, never hurts to be an optimist. It certainly more fun than the alternative.

Kudos to the dedicated employee taking track readings on Xmas Day.

Still a Heavy 10 at 3.37pm.

60mm rain last 24 hours 16mm rain today. Anyone bagging the track should reflect on those figures.

Prediction revised to Slow 7. Strong SW kicking in will give some drying.

Track seems pretty good considering.

Who is the girl talking about horses in birdcage? Thought i heard it was Alysha Collett? Gee, she could get a little more excited whoever she is. I am struggling as it is after xmas without that.

You would have to give the track a definite pass, the B grade open sprinters ran 1.13.60.

On the old track with that much rain, it would have been a mud bath and about 5 seconds slower.

Surprised that so many scratched

Agree 100%.

As I predicted some months ago, the drainage would work and will work even better in the future when it all settles in.
