Huey Posted yesterday at 03:07 AM Share Posted yesterday at 03:07 AM During the running of Race 6 @ Wanganui JC Friday 21 February two horses lost their footing, After Stewards convened with Riders the decision was made to abandon the remaining 3 races due to safety concerns. Good luck with the meetings from here on in leading up to the big $$$ meeting in a couple of weeks.

They started with a good 4 and got rain coming in during the programme. The odds of abandonment when that occurs is pretty high.

Newmarket Posted yesterday at 03:27 AM Share Posted yesterday at 03:27 AM Yes, had heavy shower before and during first race, but surely must have been an issue before race 6?

Yeah that's what I was thinking. What was the time of the last flight to Hamilton or Auckland?

Special Agent
Hawera has been moved to Waverley too due to the state of the track. Not enough tracks to spread the load I'd say. Does anyone know when the synthetic track report will be out?

Doesn't seem like good timing to me. Meanwhile the HISA have reported that in the US fatality rates nationally have dropped to less than 1/1000 (down 27% year on year) for the first time ever, and that's mostly on dirt tracks. The track by track and surface breakdown is due out next month.

The report can say what it likes, they are not popular with the majority of trainers and therefore will be the white elephant they were warned they would be. Never forget Rodley claiming they would be game changers (clueless mouthpieces) for the industry when Cambridge opened, they are an absolute waste of money and the $$$ would have been better spent revitalising one or many of the tracks they have deliberately mothballed.
