I think Evaporate's form stands out much better  - and I would even say Public Attention's form lines are better than Perfumist.

Could be an Aussie trifecta though ;)

I think the Aussie trio and the southern runner (providing Sam finds a good spot). Damask Rose/Penman are the only others I'd entertain.

Yeeeeah... I think that's the last time we ever consider South Island age-group form as "good form".

Yeah, 👍 only battled for 4th, a bit keen early, thought would go better.
Woah, what luck winner had with that inside run

Wightman's horse is still capable of performing at that level in my view. You can get away with using them against inferior opposition but against a quality field it's a different story.

This race highlights how bad our jockeys currently are when a bloke from Australia who's rarely rides here can come from last and not go around a horse.

Patience is bitter, but its fruit is sweet.

Yes totally agree, some say great ride, others say what were the best of the rest riders thinking leaving the rail open, realistically his only option of winning.

Since the inception of the Ellerslie Strathayr many runners have been murdered by jockeys loosing their compass. The slight downhill run to the home bend and insufficient camber makes it impractical to go wide IMO.

The caveat is if another runner gives you a cart into the race as was the case with the Cup winner, but what usually occurs is the half-baked jockeys inside you force you over considerably more extra ground, not only exacerbating your chance but theirs as well.

Ellerslie should consider installing a false (cutaway) rail which would be a massive assist to back runners.
