Surely this 2yo superstar heads off the contest the Slipper ?

Best kiwi trained chance since McGinty, doesn't appear to be much in the Aus 2yo ranks this season so the unbeaten son of Snitzel looks a moral for top 3 , make the purchase price look cheap when he lands the Slipper.

A Kiwi runner in the Slipper is never a moral. Their 2YOs are just so much quicker than ours, but ours mature better as 3/4YOs.

He looks like a nice and tough type though. Good to see him fight off the challenger.

NZ's best chance was Our Maizcay.

Yes. 1.11.44, a second slower than the open the other day. He'll have to go a lot quicker than that to won a slipper I'd say.

Injured, or just going for a spell?

Not sure , I'd say spelling. Was just on the Guerin Report

No show in the Slipper.

A stride past the post on Saturday he was beaten. He was lucky the stablemate had to be scratched as she would have beaten him.

The second horse was going past him but he fought back. I thought it was a tough win without being brilliant, but tough horses win plenty of races.

So you didn't believe what Shinn said?  He said Return to the Conquer got to the front and switched off and then when the other horse came up to him he lifted again.  Takes a good horse to do that.  As for what happens past the post who cares.  The Jockey knows where the post is and arguably in this case so does the horse.

He's a good horse. 2YOs who win by big margins often flop later in life. Look at Wodeton in Australia. Labeled the Slipper favourite following a big debut win and it's done nothing in two runs since.

Yeah Wodeton looked ordinary in his last two wins.  The one I like is Tentyris who just keeps getting better and the "experts" haven't rated him but surely they do now.  He just missed in the Blue Diamond having to come from a way back late running a couple of sub 11's as well.
