Brodie Posted yesterday at 06:24 AM Share Posted yesterday at 06:24 AM (edited) Addington race 4 Friday night, 2000 metre stand for $18,000 just shows how the current rating system is stupid! When a 14 win horse is programmed to race a non winner then it is high time HRNZ reconsiders the current rating system! Buffy Northstains has won 14 races and starts off the front and yet HRNZ have allowed a 9 start all unplaced maidenSenior Constable Liz, to start off the unruly?? There are also several 9 race winners also included in the field with the maiden to race against! Seriously what benefit is it for the industry to allow this maiden who is not competitive in a maiden race to be able to race at headquarters when it has no chance on earth of being g near the money?? Maidens should never be allowed to race against race winners and high time HRNZ changes the rules cos this is just a blatant farce!!!! Can't be too bad the way they're rated mate. as 9 of the 16 horses in that race (10 horses if you count the scratching ) have a WIN in their last 3 races starts. and old Rachmaninov won 5 starts ago. so that's a good grading and winning ratio. But do agree that is A super Tough task for a maiden taking on so many race winning trotters like that , for sure. Musn't be anything around that a three year old trotting filly can start in ? . should head to Manawatu maybe ? 😁💰

Why would the owner think this is right and it is only going to get in the way of the others that have a chance!

Lol even more absurd is they opened the maiden at 61s showing the bookies have no idea when setting prices. Already out to 201 which is more its true opening price

It is just lunacy that the Club has given it a start!!

After paying the drivers fee i suppose thats about $232 for turning up. The horse actually went well enough last week to have been considered a chance in a non win race,so strange he didn't start in one of those this week where he could have earned much more. you see others do that. Rachmaninov has been around, just for appearance money a few times in races where he had absolutely no chance of placing. I think you started a similar thread about him as well. Brad mowbray has lined up a few 2 year olds in the past,in those bigger races, who seemed just there for appearance money, some of whom predictably broke due to their inexperience when running beyond their capabilities. Its just what some people chose to do. personally i agree with you, whats the point, but its their horse so their decision. And lets be honest. Hrnz,is actively promoting a policy of rewarding trainers of horses bought at this years sales, with appearance money, even if they know they will run a tailed off last, in 2 year old races next year. Personally think jt is not great for promoting racing or great for the punter K Yes the owner will get appearance money but lets see if it can trot the whole way and how many horses with legitimate chances get held up behind it! it has no chance whatsoever and should be lining up against non winners and not against horses that have won 14 races! I see the dam is The Gardeners Pride who was a very long time maiden trotter still going around. Great to have enthusiast’s but surely this is taking the pxxx? Actually, the trainer pulled off a feat that would be seldom achieved in harness racing. The gardeners pride won for him at otaki in january, and her daughter, who he also trains, the horse being discussed, senior constble liz,8 years her junior ran 6th in the same race. The trainer would have been smiling that day. Edited 10 hours ago by the galah
