Special Agent
It looked like Kevin Myers was having an indepth conversation with Horowhenua Star Editor, Paul Williams so the next edition could be juicy. The new CEO should have had a chat with former Board Chair Guy Sargent before taking the Levin Racing Club on. Those guys love a fight.

As all prior CEO imports, he would look at a list of clubs and think Levin is easy meat.
Wingman
As in my post last month on 11 March titled LAND GRAB AND SPEND the new CEO of NZTR said "There are some really big infrastructure issues, especially in the Central Districts. There is some big real estate plays that need to happen. This appears regardless of how visionless it is, the beginning of making it (selloff) happen😒
Special Agent
Is anyone aware of other clubs newly in the firing line? Money from Levin would not be enough. There must be quite a few more.

Selling the family silver to support those who never supported the family. Why dont those nameless faceless aholes from NZTR come clean about their intentions. Some of those pricks have the integrity of a used toothpaste salesperson. 2

Special Agent
Anyone can contact members on the NZTR Board. You'd think the CEO would have received a directive from them.
curious
24 heats, 143 horses there today. Where are they going to hold those events? Foxton is already loaded with their trial meetings. Surely not the Awapuni synthetic? We can see today what trainers might think of that idea. Edited 22 hours ago by curious

Wouldn’t both the North and the South love to have Foxton and Levin. P.S. I was there to see two horses that I have shares in trial and even though I arrived before the scheduled time of the first one I was too late, that’s how well run an efficient they are! Never saw any petition, although I did see “Dummy” in serious talk with someone.

westbrew
If this is true that they are trying to sell Levin it is a disgrace. For sometime now i have been concerned that Winston Peters is a wolf in sheep's clothing, he plays up he is all for the little guy and he is racings best friend when in fact his party has been funded by certain very wealthy racing people who have no concern for the rank and file they are just rich breeders who wish to get richer by inflating stakes anyway they can including selling up community based race clubs so they can sell their yearlings for ever increasing profit. This Minister is a complete sham, closing Greyhounds, increasing Entains monopoly to include online, allowing NZTR to strip community clubs, letting the RIB costs get out of control ( I believe they have 3 large offices now ChCh, Wellington and Auckland, plus highly paid corporate roles being created left right and centre. All of these things are hurting the rank and file. Millions and Millions are being pissed away by mediocre management across the racing industry, they will continue to come for community assets as they are able to shit all over the little guy and continually paint it like its all the little guys fault.
Chief Stipe
Posted this on another Topic: Well they need to find capital from somewhere to fix Trentham. In my opinion that is a sink hole. Few realise that if it wasn't for substantial interest free capital lent by the local councils to the Wellington Stadium Trust that venue would run at a loss. So given the number of events held at that venue how do they expect Trentham that holds 12 race meetings a year (no trials, no jumpouts, no horse training revenue) and limited non-racing facilities for functions expect to make a profit?

There is no dispute that this is definitely true. Only a halfwit would contemplate selling a freehold venue with a guaranteed annual income from the adjoining lifestyle village, a sizeable amount in the bank, a profitable jumpout model which provides a valuable tool to central trainers and riders (and beyond). The racing club also currently runs three race meetings, comes up with a few innovative ideas, and has a committee which includes younger more energetic bodies than your average racing club. All this down the drain to prop up racing clubs with obvious poor management of both their business and infrastructure. NZTR has an amazing knack of finding CEO's who don't amount to much.
