Chief, one thing is for sure, we won’t be traveling to Hawera ourselves, so what we spend on the extra float fee is slightly offset by staying home. 
Oh and by the way, the sun has come out here on the Kapiti Coast, it’s a cool breeze and as I’ve been in the garden all morning I think that the track would have been otherwise OK. A bit of a nuisance really although because we would have gone (to Otaki) and the mare is trained to the minute, extra two days could be a problem-at least I’ll have another excuse  😂

DB - am enjoying your posts.  I wish you & your wife the very best.  And success for your horse too - that is a much lesser thing than your wife's health but I know the joy & lift in spirits one's horse racing well can confer - so good luck to all 3 of you.

It was a full on chief stipe 'lets go down memory lane' rant. That is just him. Nothing wrong with putting your thoughts down Dark Beau however C.S. is correct re Trentham. Your comments about how great a track it is unfortunately no longer the case. Trentham was once the best Summer racing surface in the Southern Hemisphere but this century it has  been neglected in an abysmal way. The view is now also a pathetic sliver of what it once was. Using a drone to enable a view down the first 600m down the shute; disgraceful!

... I wasn't even talking about the move from Otaki to Hawera.  Rather the NZTR comments and lost earnings with Awapuni not up and running.

The fact of the matter is that racing needs a bomb under it, especially in CD.  I think many of us make comments to let out some frustration.

These comments are just opinions which are sometimes asked for.  They don't need twisting and I too don't have time to be justifying any of it.

What you wrote was ambiguous and somewhat out of context given the previous posts which WERE about Hawea and the cost of transport to that venue.

Exactly you were venting and moaning.  One post you are complaining about what Awapuni has to offer the next you are complaining they are not up and running.

I'm actually surprised you are posting here @Dark Beau.  Very brave of you.  On the other side it appears anytime someone upsets you the Comic Dog bans them.  Have you run enough chook raffles yet to buy some electronic timing for your track?  Will you extend the drone coverage for the whole 1200m?

What you described as a diatribe cut close to the bone didnt it.  

Confess to the real CD stakeholders Trentham is looking to suck more life out of the regions to sustain it for another decade.

You may blame the NZTR CEO's but I suggest your look closer to home for an example of why the industry is where it is e.g. the WRC

I have made my thoughts known re the state of Trentham and will not comment further as this post is starting to get more like a you said, I said, squabble, the type that as Jess pointed out on another post does not do anyone favours once the calling out starts..."Get ready to rumble"🤕

Good old Hawera saves the day yet again. It must be the best track in NZ.....and before you choke on your sausage roll, its ALWAYS been highly regarded, it has never had a meeting called off after Race 1 from memory, and it has stood the test of time while others around the country have died or are in constant need of maintenance. Find me another course that can boast those credentials.

I remembe asking Hayden Tinsley to rank the best and the worst tracks in the CD - he surprised me when he said Hawera the best and New Plymouth the worst.

Hawera have recently invested in a new irrigation system.  The soil is loamy with a high organic content.

Hawera is by far the best and NP has always been a dump. Tinsley refused to ride there. Theyve been given a lot of money to put in that irrigation system. I just hope its not going to jinx it like every other track that gets told/asked to do so. 

Im still super confident no one will find another track in NZ that beats Hawera for the criteria I posted before.

One of the despised ones isn't it? It does invariably seem to be in better condition than NP.
