And that is why you are the accountant.

Wages are definitely a huge expense.

For EVERY track.  For example over a $100k at Foxton and they don't have an event centre or hospitality venues.  Other than the hot dog and coffee stand.

You can't rely anymore on members having either the knowledge or the time or the training to pitch up and work on a race track.

Time we all thought about sustaining the infrastructure professionally.

Foxton has other revenue streams though.  Event centres and hospitality venues aren't the only way to bring some cash in.

Bugger all. They still lose money and industry level racedays in winter would only worsen that.

There might be some tweaking to come.  Waipukurau at Hastings, and Hawkes Bay at Waipukurau.  Interesting none-the-less.

More than likely in light of recent events probably many changes by this time next year, didn't Wairoa have their cup run in Taranaki this season, now temporary at Waipuk.

I didn't say they were.  I was just offering an explanation why some Clubs have managers (other than track workers) and others don't.

That is one hell of a lot of life members.

Hard to create a vibrant vibe with a stuffy sect.

To be fair I was exaggerating.  Probably a third are life members who joined in the 60's and 70's.

There would be a lot members and staff of clubs who would love to be in the position of breaking even.

The point is if you look at the financials they only broke even because of:

NZTR $29k
DIA Grant (Pokies?) $19k
MSD Wage Subsidy $9k.

The loss from core trading activities (i.e. horse activities) was $55k!

Thanks for the info.

As you are the figures man can you do the same analysis for RACE so we can judge the comparison?

Riccarton has around 250 horses utilizing the tracks per month.

Rangiora,  120.  That doesn't include the harness numbers which i forgot to ask for.

What does everyone think of the significant numbers in work at Rangiora?
