the galah Posted May 30 Posted May 30 backed in to $1.65 favorite after opening at $2.80. to me thats crazy short. Maybe its drawn to place with an ok run. Still you never know, that stable is having a great run. 1 Quote

The Telfer stable travel a lot and put in a BIG effort in both Islands so is hard to begrudge them any success. You might remember in Cup week he (Miki Bennett) was going to win both runs in November but galloped at the 100m pole near the finish both times when just going to the lead. must of been shying at something. Took my $50 the 2nd occasion as well , as thought he was a good thing after the first near miss early in the week 🙄. I'm a bit shy now too. But tell me if I should place a bet to recover my 50 tonight ? what do you think Mr Galah ? Miki is $2.90 on the Sportsbet currently , and only 8 horses to beat as well ?. (My exact favourite field size because they ALL get a chance to win then, even if back a bit at the quarter mile. ) 1 Quote

(My exact favourite field size because they ALL get a chance to win then, even if back a bit at the quarter mile. ) thats a tricky one gammalite. He would be the best on disclosed form for sure. He was outstanding when winning a couple of starts ago at addington, but then next start he won more on heart than performing to his best. Maybe that previous run had flattened him a little, but then again maybe they have fresened him up and he will perform at his best again. Then you factor in the standing start. I have had a look at his previous standing starts. He has had 2 raceday stands and both times went away then galloped for no reason after 100m,but was amongst horses. He has begun safely but slowly at the trials. In his favour is he will have room drawn the outside so may get away without breaking, but it is only 2000m. so,i have no doubt confused you a bit and thats because i'm a bit confused myself as to whether to back him.I think the current price is about right given all the factors. so ,i don't think i have helped you much with my thinking. Still you never know, that stable is having a great run. well it was sort of not going to win was it. a clear 2nd but the winner too good. Blair Orange went flat out down the back straight with his horse and gassed it. Should of waited till a bit later really to make a fast run at em' like that. you said a place was best for Franco Ezra and proved correct. only $1.10 place Sportsbet though. the winner only $1.35 place as well of Gerard O'Reilly's. looks a very nice mare and should win some. 33 minutes ago, the galah said: i have no doubt confused you a bit and thats because i'm a bit confused myself as to whether to back him.I think the current price is about right given all the factors. so ,i don't think i have helped you much with my thinking. Your opinion is always worth considering. Thanks for the info. hadn't factored in a standing start. But Telfers horses are going a fraction better these days (gait wise ) they had quite a few runners that gallop during the running the past 2 years or so was discussing with a former driver why this might be so. Seems the hopples might be set a bit too long in some cases , so reckon they have pulled them up a bit lately lol. 7 winners last Friday. If MikiB doesn't gallop will be sure to go close to winning 1 Quote
Brodie Posted May 30 Posted May 30 (edited) Just can not understand some of these punters that are allowed to put a couple of thousand on? From what Trackside is showing us as big bets, the wagering from these punters is very amateurish, certainly would not call them gifted! Gifting money to the TAB mostly! Why on earth would a punter put $2k on Franco Ezrah and $2k on Paddy McDaddy at such short odds? Both were very poor wagers as both were straight out of maidens up against experienced horses and they took $1.75 fixed to win?? Seriously punters that wager like this need to consider just whether they should be punting if they are wanting to win? Edited May 30 by Brodie Quote
