Gammalite Posted Tuesday at 03:12 AM Posted Tuesday at 03:12 AM With the 2025 Contest coming up soon , and some great NZ reps in Republican Party in the Pacers section and Bet N Win in the Trotters > It's time for a Competition for BOAY harness racing supporters to get in and remember and respect ( and/or Learn About ) some of the Greats of the Best Race of All. I will daily put up a question or 2 , where you can earn points as we go to Find the great BOAY Interdominion Champ. In addition , if can't answer the questions as you are too young 🤣, I will Pop on a Race each day , that is being run on that day , featuring Fine NZ v Aus horses , where you can earn points as well. so look out for that race daily. The true Meaning of the Unique and Traditional and Harness racing specific INTERDOMINION is (inter =inside/between and then Dominion = NZ and Aus ) a contest inside the British dominions of New Zealand and Australia. Let's get it going and go with Horse Number 1 1 Quote
Gammalite Posted Tuesday at 03:22 AM Author Posted Tuesday at 03:22 AM Todays Champion a true Interdominion horse . He is seen winning the final here for New Zealand. 1/ Who is our horse and driver ? 1/ What track are we winning at ? 2/ What is unusual about the breeding of both horse and driver 😁 . Place of birth ? 3/ Can you name his 2 fabulous stalwart owners in the photo seen after a big Win in NZ who did massive amounts for the sport in NZ.? Quote
Gammalite Posted Tuesday at 03:31 AM Author Posted Tuesday at 03:31 AM Here's the race. !! anyone can have a crack . Even galloping folk are most welcome. Points for picking place getters, Quinella, or BIG points if you nail the Trifecta. Post your 3 (Three ONLY please) numbers of your selections here. The Race is Race 8 Menangle today run at 7..48 NZ time. A true Interdominion flavour to it with 6 old beautiful horses that have won in NZ as well as OZ. Gammalite Posted Tuesday at 05:16 AM Author Posted Tuesday at 05:16 AM Also on an Interdominion flavour. Just now at Albion Park young Riley Butt , son of ex-pat Lyell Creek trainer Tim Butt trained the winner Bottecelli. Was only going to run second but the Long Odds on favourite JillibyGiddy Jumped the dark Shadow of the large floodlight Pole 100m out.🙄 Lucky he didn't do a Liquid Lightning NZ Derby trick ? The previous race TAYLAD TO USE from the North Island having his 2nd start for Grant won easy. Last week the Punters got burnt when he ran 4th first up at $2.40. They didn't back up today and he went from $2.40 opening out to $3.50 lol. The Trot field is out for next Saturday night too with Nz champ Oscar B v GUS a big highlight as they prepare for the Interdom next month. Sanderson is down to drive Oscar B and Rubira NZ for Marky on Saturday night. bit risky putting him on lol. but he might fluke it like he just did on Botticelli for Riley Butt 🤣 Quote
Gammalite Posted Tuesday at 07:21 PM Author Posted Tuesday at 07:21 PM Day 2 Horse another NZ ripper. Points update : (Day 1 comp points : Rangatira 6 points with a clean sweep of the 6 answers ) With LEAP TO FAME winning the last Albion Park Interdominion Grand Final , and a Red hot favourite to repeat next month, we can find a better NZ result from earlier on at Albion Park. Todays horse seen here winning was part of a NZ Bred First 4. 1/ Who is todays winning horse and driver in photo ? 2/ 2nd home was a double heat winner bred in NZ , out of mare RAIN GIRL, who raced in a grand Final herself behind Gammalite at Auckland. 3rd home was a NZ trained and driven horses by a Pair of Famous Brothers . Can you name the Brothers ? Clue = they won the Trotting Grand Final very easily this same night. Who might that trotter of been ? n.b NZ trained trotters ran a terrific trifecta in a dominant display 3/ Name the 4th horse ? sorry he only got his nose in the photo 😁 . clue = a NZ champ who was series hot favourite and I think this stallion was undefeated in NZ , and won a swag in Aus after. This was as close as he got in 3 Grand Finals attempts though, which damaged his reputation a bit , trying to Win the greatest race there is for his CV. Quote

Courage Under Fire aka Mighty Mouse A five star performance again from Ranga , sweeps up the 8 points. very well done !! If someone names a horse Rangatira it would go out favourite in the Interdominion on that form. What a great night of racing that was in 2001. The NZ Cup Winner Yulestar turned up to demolish them in the Final after a couple of 2nd placings in the heats. the great Courage Under Fire not even close to beating him . Jim Smith's old trotter Mountain Gold, that he sold to Barry Purdon finished a fine 2nd to Take A Moment in the trot Grand final final. 3rd home was Special Force to round out the NZ Trifecta 💰💰💰👍 . Special Force a fine Trotter who himself had WON the Interdominion Trot Final at Auckland 2 years earlier 1999 for trainer Dave McGowan and driver Todd McFarlane . here he goes winning at Alexandra Park with someone beating Marky boy for a change . Special Force. (Mark Purdon's 4 runners were 2nd ,4th, 7th , and 8th) with Mountain Gold 5th for Jim blocked in 3 back the fence as the chance of Interdominion Glory blocked along with him sadly 😪 ) Quote

Gammalite Posted Wednesday at 06:11 AM Author Posted Wednesday at 06:11 AM 1 hour ago, Rangatira said: Not in order Pride of Petite Africa Merinai Sunny Action nearly. behind the winner 1999 Special Force (Todd McFarlane) trotted in AFRICA (CJ Defilippi )2nd, PRIDE OF PETITE (Marky)4th, SUNDONS WAY (TonyH ) 7th, SUNNY ACTION (big Barry driving for little brother) 8th. Pride Of Petite had run 4th the Previous year as well with Mark driving , But his Stablemate BUSTER HANOVER won the final (with brother-in-law Tony Herlihy driving) . They were both off the backmark of 30m at Harold Park too, so was a supreme effort to run 1st and 4th from back there. Pride of Petite one of the Best Handicap achievers of all time though , getting into the Interdominion HAll of FAME with a Pair of Grand Final Magnificent Victories herself off 30m at Moonee Valley 1996 (driven by Mark) and a hefty 40m at Adelaide Globe Derby Park 1997 (driven by Tony ) defeating the local hero Wagon Apollo of Graeme Lang's both times. here she is . Pride of Petite had 6 of her 8 foals get to the races but were only battlers who scratched about a long time to get just 2 to 3 wins each roughly. nothing like their sensational mother. 1 Quote
Gammalite Posted Wednesday at 09:19 PM Author Posted Wednesday at 09:19 PM Good to see Chief has come out of oblivion to try and get involved in the Interdominion .😁 Here we have the Trotters field for this Saturday night Albion, of horses trying to get into the Interdom heats. we will use this race for the BOAY Interdominion Competition this week. I may have to allocate the runners if the BOAY trotting stalwarts are unable to pick the Quinella to gain points 🤣. Chief's 'Alter Ego' 😉 from NZ No 12 in the below race, has had a few Issues , and gone cranky with manners, BUT after 10 trials this year (where he galloped madly everytime nearly) , he's gone through 2 more trainers and Lo and Behold some new trainer has miracles up, and has got him to Trot all the way and he qualified the other day at the trials to race from the mobile once again. Alas he is balloted out as Emergency but great to see him still having a crack at making it too the July Interdominion.😋 Form Horse Trainer Other Eng. Gammalite Posted Wednesday at 11:17 PM Author Posted Wednesday at 11:17 PM Ranga leads the BOAY Interdominion Competition points 14 - 0 so far. So in an endeavour to get some BOAY slow beginners 'off the mark' we will use the greatest Mark of all (Mark Purdon ) to earn someone someone some points. Mark part owns and trains the NZ star trotter OSCAR BONAVENA . a huge chance in the trotting Interdominion. In the field Race listed above OscarB should be able to 'clean up' local QLD opposition no trouble at all. QLD very weak as far as trotters go. Oscar B had a Summer campaign in Aus that netted 2 wins from 5 starts in Vic and NSW when driven by the late great Greg Sugars for a win and ex-pat NZ great Anthony Butt in another. For the BOAY Comp , I will Quinella OSCAR Bonavena with your runner and the Quinella Divvie will be your points scored at the completion of the race. . here's your runner to Quinella with him as your alter Ego rep 😉. Race 4 Albion Sat night at 8.57 NZ time. TAB4ever gets number 1. as blazes about the place like a 'Fireball' lol. Rangatira gets the number 3. a great old kiwi horse he would of seen many times. and Ranga 'Masterly' has the lead. Brodster gets number number 5 as Loves to Gun down the TAb entain ATC HRNZ + anyone in the firing line😎 NoworNever gets number 7 as Not as Promised a three barrelled name statement , just like himself. Blackie gets number 9 as doesn't mind a 'Victory' so can Victree deliver. The Galah on number 10. he is a zealous runner and birds have spurs don't they? for mating or defending territory 😁 Chief on number 12 , probably won't get a run. The class of field a bit seemingly a bit too strong for him 😋 Gamma lucky 13 . G is for Goodness gracious Gamma and Great Galloping Gus too. (Hopefully minus the gallop bit ) ANYone is Welcome to Enter Just POST your Quinella pick numbers here ( before the race lol) and you are in with a chance for points. Points will be allocated for the Placegetters as well. (The Hardy competitors above with a runner, are also welcome to enter their own Quinella selection of course ) POST 2 Horse Numbers here is all you need to do to enter . race 4 Albion Sat. Quote

Having drawn MASTERLY for this Saturday night. Might spring memories of a dreary Wet Addington a long time ago when this horse beat not one , but 2 Interdominion Trot Grand Final Winners into the placings. 1/ Can you name this trotter, driver, trainer .? 2/ The 2 Stablemates that ran 2nd and 3rd were both Grand Final Winners too? . Very well done. Call Me Now too slick in the slop ⛈️. Masterly was trained by Paul Nairn in NZ just last summer I see . and See he won 4 of his last 10 starts too for the great Trainer of trotters as well . very nice. Will be hard to beat NZ old mate 'OscarB' this week though lol 😎 An interesting thing from that 1995 Trotting Grand Final at Addington was the red Hot favourite, after Winning both his heats impressively, was DAVID MOSS. Maurice McKendry driving . But isn't he was a South Island horse? anyway DAVID MOSS got held up along the inner after drawing one on the 2nd line for the Grand Final and ran 4th. He went to Australia and won 3 out of 4 starts he had there , and this was enough for DAVID MOSS to be voted Australian Trotter of the year 1995 😂. Aussie trotters must of been pretty crappy 🙄 . New Zealand trotters Won all 10 of the Trotting Grand Finals All through the 1990's . a Fantastic Achievement. 1 Quote
Gammalite Posted yesterday at 09:29 AM Author Posted yesterday at 09:29 AM New Zealands Best Trotter , the millionaire OSCAR BONAVENA does Nz proud and donkey licks the locals at Albion park in preparation for his Interdominion tilt next month. Well driven in a spot-on 10/10 drive by Adam Sanderson from a bad alley , so I'll stop picking on him now lol 😎. The Galah Bags the 16 points for the competition 🏆 , with a fine second placing by his horse. and the Quinella paying $16. 'Zealous Spur' going quite well . well done Mr Galah. 'Gus' Locked wheels with some dipstick at the quarter but a great finishing burst saw him grab 3rd for Gamma (2pts) heading off the 'Love Gun' for Brodie late on , who ran 4th. (1 pt) BOAY INTERDOMINION Points Update Ranga 20 points , The Galah 16 points , Gamma 2 points , Brodster 1 point. Look out for a new quiz horse tomorrow sometime 1 Quote

(1 pt) that was a strange one wasn't it. the horse to gus's inside moved out, which seemed a reasonable move, then gus lugged in a little but still it looked like mcmullen just carried on letting it roll forward and contacted the cart inside him.I thought it appeared more mcmullens fault. I happened to flick onto the racing channel when race 1 was on,and the mcmullen drive in that i thought was very odd. It looked like he was scared to come off the inside in case he contacted the horse outside him who was 1 length behind him and struggling. It seemed a simple move but mcmullenn just sat there and let the horse he could have followed drop him by 6 lengths. And in that same race you had n dawson driving the other favorite, leading, but seemingly angry with the horse as he was regularly jerking its head from side to side. I'm not saying they weren't trying,i've seen them enough to realise they most likely would have been, but to the casual punter both those drives seemed a bit strange.Do things like that help get punters to bet on the queensland product? Probably was. That being said GUS is an extremely Hard horse to drive. A bit in the Scotch Tar mould lol. Wolfie and Bob Cameron used to have all sorts of trouble driving him back in the day (when slim Dykman put them on) But they often Won with him anyway as were the Top of the Top as far as drivers go. Alas in his Interdominion Trot Final that No Response won at Addington , Scotch Tar broke on Wolfie and tailed out after starting near equal Favourite after winning his 2 mile heat in the same time as No Response in the other. Made up a huge amount of ground for 7th. Possibly could of Won without the 'gallop' alright. Our QLD trotter drivers not as experienced as the NZ ones in Big races, so that is a handicap for them for sure. Sanderson drove a great race for Mark on OScarB though last night. . so that was nice to see . Sanderson Also Won with RUBIRA for Marky as well . Was a quick first quarter, as he held the Dixon Colt out for the lead which surprised me. Rubira rallied Hard to Win very well too. Looks a Huge QLD Derby prospect. 1 Quote
