Newmarket Posted July 13 Posted July 13 Wow, how bad can it get? This winter has seen the worst of jumping, today at Woodville the same. I’ve always like the jumpers, but on what I have seen recently, it’s only time before they ban it. Quote

By the way jumping has been driven into the ground more than flat racing because of inept industry control. 1 Quote

However the standard of jumping overall wasn't flash but I put that down to the man made erected fences and not having live brush fences. Quote

Tragedy Beat Posted July 19 Posted July 19 Woodville was an excellent day of racing. And a big crowd that created a great atmosphere. Pop along to Ellerslie and see how morbid that place is. 4 Quote
Special Agent Posted July 19 Posted July 19 I think the smaller clubs are more in touch and more innovative. Can also work with a small budget, because they've had practice. Quote
Newmarket Posted Sunday at 12:55 AM Author Posted Sunday at 12:55 AM Last jumping race at Te Aroha another disaster. If greyhound racing is cruel, fuck knows what you call jumping in NZ. Quote

Have you ever ridden a horse in your life? Do you know what they are capable of doing physically? Suggest you take up Sports Betting. Most contact sports are cruel. Quote

Now let’s see…. Those in contact sports, I think they decide if they want to put themselves in danger or not…. nags don’t have any choice do they? Or will you disagree with this? 3 Quote

Have you got anything positive to say about racing at all? There was nothing wrong with those jumps races at Te Aroha. Quite frankly I'm get pissed off with you whinging anti-racing types. You knock everything. Come back when you have something positive to say. 2 Quote
Chief Stipe Posted Sunday at 07:36 PM Posted Sunday at 07:36 PM I see @Freda @curious @PeterLambFan you support @Newmarket comments about Te Aroha. What was actually wrong with the Jumps? @curious is it like the whips yet another racing thing you have a gripe with? Quote
curious Posted Sunday at 07:43 PM Posted Sunday at 07:43 PM I thought your argument was spurious as Newmarket pointed out. It's apples and oranges when humans play contact sports of their own volition. Calling them risky is one thing but hardly cruel. Horses on the other hand have little choice but to participate in jumping races and that's for human entertainment. 1 Quote

As for jumping races, I have always looked them, one of the first times I went to Riccarton I remember Grey Warbler winning. So it’s not about me disliking jumping, it’s what is happening lately in these jumping races.. too many falling, maybe inexperienced riders, maybe dodgy tracks….. I was pointing out that once the anti racing types jump on it jumps racing will be gone. Some may say I’m dreaming, but 5 yrs ago nobody would have thought dog racing would be banned. Quote

Bullshit - you're Anti-racing. End of story. Horses have always fallen in jumps races especially maidens. You're just dog turd picking the worst bits probably because you have a bee in your bonnet about no longer being able to lose your money at multiple betting agencies. As for "the second to last fence at Te Aroha", @Thomass 's selective pictures from wide angles and anecdotal quotes i.e. no facts I would argue is just another angle bh Anti-racing types. Its sickening to see it being aided and abetted by some who have short memories, who supposedly enjoyed "racing at its best" and readily pocketed the spoils not that many of them dis that well even when things were "great". Who now approaching their day of reckoning feel guilty and have bought into the woke nonsense from a minority. Of course the irony of the Greyhound racing being banned seems to escape most. The biggest abuse of dogs is by the mahority of pet owners who overfeed them with crap food. I guess it keeps Vets busy. Quote

I gather you have checked out because you now believe your previous morality was wrong. Horse racing has always been for our entertainment just as point to point, show jumping, polo and don't forget the fact that for centuries we have "broken in horses" to aid aid human endeavour. Why we don't we rehome all racehorses and treat them like pets? Yeah Na they are linebred species bred to race and contrary to what the Anti-racing types are spewing most of them love doing it. Quote
