and dislike about the recently updated TAB website?

The increase in betting options on the sports side are welcomed.

The cash out option is a positive despite the cash out amounts offered being woeful.

Updated betting movements are extremely helpful as they invariably point you in the right direction, one way or another.

The quality of the live streaming has improved. Still not 100% but progress at least.

Thumbs down to the clock counting down to race start. It's invariably incorrect. Punters are being shown for example the race will start in 6 mins and 26 seconds when in fact, they are just moments from jumping. This issue is so important it's perplexing they haven't put it right.

The race results of exotic bets are unreliable and painfully slow. That issue obviously needs addressing promptly.

There are many other negatives but the two biggest were the shambolic way the TAB "help desk" operated during this all important changeover and John Allen's shameful Trentham interview about the changes.

I'm certain the TAB lost an enormous amount of goodwill in the way they totally miscalculated the number of staff they would need on their help desk with issues that were obviously going to arise. The fact the TAB would throw their own customers under the bus the way they did not only destroys confidence in their decision making but highlights the lack of respect for their own customer base. Blind Freddy could see what was going to unfold but not those who should have been on to it at the TAB. I'm sure they will volunteer to donate 20% of their salary to the SPCA for their embarrassing monumental blunder.

John Allen's interview on Saturday about the changes was serious cringe. Insulting to all punters who have been in the game for more than a fortnight and have an intelligence quotient over 30. He came across as a smiling hollow man with no understanding of what was going on. I'm surprised he didn't ask the viewers to sit on the mat like Kindergarten children while he dispensed his patronizing advice which was about as useful as a chocolate fireguard. Impossible to have any confidence in the man.

What say you?

I'm not enjoying the new website very much, I normally use my mobile, but it is so slow, sometimes it freezes my device normally if I'm watching a race and they get to the home straight! I went to a TAB agency 2 Saturdays ago and thought I would spend an hour or 2 in there having a few bets and putting my later bets on..like old times.. within 2mins while writing out a slip an old tramp like guy was in my face pointing at the tab race sheets and telling me Johnathan Parks, Jonathan parks...I moved away, but fuck me next thing I could smell a urine X Body odour smell behind me..he was following me! So I put what bets I had written out and left!

Anyway agree with your summation.

I don't trust it much though. The Kerr runner Pay Me Swiss went from  61 to 71 to 51 on Saturday night without any other movement in the field. I can't understand that as it ended up at 21s so was consistently backed in. Why would it go up initially?

They can lower the amount as much as they want to signify a betting plunge but as has been pointed out it can only a couple of dollars.

As for the rest of it, I don't like how I can't see the full field on the computer screen. Do I really have to zoom in each time to get it. I miss the old racing page which was simple.

I also find I have to scroll up an down a lot for the fields and then next to it the multis and bets.

Also annoying is how the most recent race is at the bottom of the list. Necessitates more movement.

Like, FU, the betslip is still there and I am not sure if I have put the bet on so have to go look.

Apart from that JK, I love it. ?

You not only back losers...you attract losers as well....?

What is going on Flag?

Take the missus down to the TAB next time and she might appreciate you more as she will be comparing you to the clientele...

Next time you say you off to the TAB you will be as free as a bird!

Happy, you are correct in regards to the betting movements with Fixed Odds!

You can put buggerall on for a place and they cane both the win and place odds!

There are some things that are ok with the new system but it ain’t $40m worth that’s for sure!

TAB only interested in getting young ones into sports punting, that is why the live betting appears first, no other reason!

Sports is the first thing pushed in your face when you go into the site, racing very much in the background.

I would consider myself knowledge about many sports but it is very hard to make money unless you are take a lottery bet like first try scorer or margins.

When I bet on sports I consider it just for fun. There are even more variables than the harness horses.

Problem for racing is that if the new punters coming thru get into solely into sports punting, then racing will not see the money!

It costs heaps to run any racemeeting and if not enough is wagered then meetings won’t happen eventually!

Burying your heads in the sand won’t help either!

Hopefully Racing will improve but no punters and no racing, end of storey

That's right, easy money for tab to offer sports from overseas, they have to plough money back into racing.

I have a different take on sports betting Happy.

I avoid lottery type sports bets. They pay well as there is so little hope of them rolling home. The trick is not to spread yourself thin with your up to date sports knowledge. Have a specialist sport you follow where you know all the ins and outs. If you know a team is in good form, is highly motivated and is fielding their best team etc etc, you have more than half the problem solved. If the opponents are not in as good a form, are missing key plays and you don't feel they are as highly motivated, you're in. I feel very comfortable putting four figures on an EPL game for example and routinely do but no where near as comfortable putting the same amount on a single horse regardless of who that horse is.

In my opinion, it's far easier to win consistently off sports than it is off racing. If you multi up a few games, you are a realistic hope of a nice collect that can pay for a happy holiday. Can't remember the last time I did that off the gg's. Just too many variables. I missed a 80k multi when raging hot fav Terror To Love of all horses got rolled as a juvenile in either the Sapling Stakes or Kindergarten stakes. Jim Curtin drove him and looked like he'd have to fall over to lose. He came down the straight like a dromedary.  Haven't taken a multi with the gg's since but will happily take a football multi.

Also good to put in a sure thing  in sport $1.20 $1.30 to boost a multi

Fair enough about the multis but you are spending 4 figures so that puts you in a different league.

Completely agree about the motivation etc.

The sport itself plays a large part in it for me. Are you comfortable betting large in football with the 3 options of win, draw or lose?

Win lose and draw are not the only options Happy. If they were, I would struggle. Goal starts and total combined goals are two that I reach for routinely. The one option I avoid like the black death is half time full time doubles. They are a trap for young players. I learned the hard way on that.

My most common bet is $100 multi with four or five games. I, like FU often throw in a lay down @1.20 just to sweeten the pot.

When I lived in the UK I would put a big bet on if it was 0-0 on first half goals to stay 0-0 at half time I like you got stung really bad.....you don't realise how many goals are scored in the 43rd or 44th minutes!
