The G1 1600-metre classics of the Caulfield and Thousand Guineas are a little more than a month away but that hasn’t dulled the dream for a number of owners who on Tuesday paid the nomination fees for their still unraced hopefuls.

The $3 million Caulfield Guineas (1600m) on October 11 attracted 119 nominations by the noon deadline on Tuesday with 10 of those entries for horses yet to make their debuts.

In the $1.5 million Thousand Guineas (1600m) on October 18, there were 106 nominations with 17 of those yet to have their first start.

The clock is certainly ticking for these horses to be ready to run at 1600 metres in four or five weeks’ time, so expect to see a flood of them kicking off shortly.

Among those entries for unraced horses are seven from star Cranbourne and New Zealand trainer Mark Walker. You’d expect most of these will start their careers in the next two weeks, so let’s take a closer look at them.

MARK WALKER’S UNRACED THOUSAND GUINEAS ENTRIES

Sattva (Savabeel – Mawzoona): Been placed in two of her three trials to date. Bred to run as has Black Caviar’s granddam Scandinavia in her pedigree.

Merrow (Ancient Spirit – Erin’s Babe): Has not been placed in any of her four trials to date but in her pedigree is Patrick Erin, who won the 2018 G1 Metropolitan (2400m) for Chris Waller.

May Be Bubbles (Lonhro – Tracy May): Unplaced in both her trials, she is the first foal of mare Tracy May, who’s granddam Tracey’s Element produced the Australian Horse Of The Year in Typhoon Tracy.

Lyrics ‘N’ Song (Written Tycoon – Melody Belle): Has been placed in both her trials so far and will generate any amount of interest as she is the first foal of the 14-time G1 winning mare Melody Belle.

Girt By Sea (Ocean Park – Baggy Green): Managed to be placed once in her four trials but is out of a great producing mare who has already had the likes of stakes winners Tofane, No Compromise, Benaud and Bradman.

Get Honor (Savabeel – Honor): Unplaced in all three trials, she is bred to get some ground being out of the family of the likes of handy staying type Ecuador.

MARK WALKER’S UNRACED CAULFIELD GUINEAS ENTRY

Hostility (I Am Invincible – Shillelagh): Hasn’t even been to the trials as yet but bred to be a star as by Australia’s champion sire out of the former Chris Waller-trained mare Shillelagh, who won the G1 Cantala Stakes (1600m) in 2017 and the G1 Empire Rose Stakes over the same course at Flemington 12 months later.

First acceptances for both G1 Guineas races are taken on September 23.

There aren't any cheap ones.

Many a lot cheaper than these ones .

Damask Rose has a decent race in Aus written all over it. Doesn't get a mention?

Hostility is that going to Aus on that last run ? Might win a mile +

The article was about Mark Walker's unraced Caulfied and 1000 Guineas hopefuls and Damask Rose is a 4 year old.  But I agree, the way she finished off from last at the 200m into 5th against some pretty good horses, augurs well.

Not sure why they have Hostility as unraced, as 3 starts now in NZ, hardly earth shattering in the Colin Meads

Damsk Rose just a run today at Caulfield, drew wide but got lovely run, just battled. Another one that would have been better racing in NZ today, could easily win nice races here against NZ nags.

BULLSHIT.  That confirms it you have no idea about racing.  Drew wide made a big run at them beaten 2.6 lengths finished 7th drew 15. They ran 1:21 but I guess you know nothing about race times either.

Bullshit yourself….i said it drew wide, but slotted in one off so dont use that as an excuse, had good run. At least 2 horses from further back ran past it last 100m.
As for time, the whole field ran that time, so what??

Once again, you get upset if anyone mentions your prized stable.
While we are on it, for the amount of runners they had racing today…. pretty average results for some expensive nags.

I'm thinking she may be a length or 2 below the best G1 company in Aus.  Miss Roumbini who drew wide also came from behind her and went past with ease.  Sepals also drew wide and won well.

Lots of very good horses in Aus.

Be crazy not to bring her back to NZ for the KM 4-year-old race in Jan

The Blackbooker in the race was Angel Capital. D Lane is a world-class jockey, but this will go down as a ride to forget, he gave it no show, and to me, he had a brain fade. In fact, I saw three Blackbookers yesterday, so I got to thinking: what about if we have a competition, where you have a start date and you have one month to see how your unlucky runners perform during that period?

You can have an imaginary $10 to win on 3 separate runners that you select, and your horse can start as many times as the trainer decides in that month.

To make it interesting, i will put up $100 prize to the punter who has the most imaginary amount of dollars at the end of the month.

Can i get someone good at Excel to run the comp, as i will Fxxk it up?

More crap.  Did you actually watch the race?

Damask Rose ran the second fastest last 600m of the race.  She actually ran that sectional faster than the winner.  Even after being hampered by the second horse and losing momentum.

The first 7 horses went under 1:08 for the last 1200m.  At Caulfield of all places.

Overall a top run for her first Grp 1 run in OZ.

I suggest you and @hesi review the race again with eyes and mind open.

Wrong again.  5 horses didn't break 1:22.  Horses very rarely run those times at Caulfield in recent years Damask Rose was 0.4 seconds from the winner even though she ran the second fastest last 600m.  A top run against a very good field.  She ran her last 1200m in track record time.  A track record held by Miss Andretti time.

Overall the race was only 0.19 off the track record set 22 years ago by a very good horse called Exceed and Excel.

I disagree she showed yesterday she is up to the top level and will pick up a Group race in Australia.

The entire field draw inside her and at Caulfield in a fast run race with her style of racing that was the difference.  Top run.

A track record held by Miss Andrew, are you sure, would that not be Miss Anderiti?spelling

I checked Racnet but couldn't find the sectional times. I did look at the replay ,but was only from the 150m mark and seen more than 1 horse that came from behind DR.

A combination of AI and spell check.  It was Miss Andretti.

The sectionals are all on RACING.COM.
