If they don't have any footage of the jiggers in use the whole thing could end being a bit of a .. bust

I heard tonight that they do have video footage from a disgruntled employee. (Probably ex-employee)

It came from a very good source but it could still be false, as one doesn’t know how much any story changes as it get passed on.

C'mon RM they have been investigating this thing whatever for months but can't land any charges. Seems its all a plan b scenario to justify the investigation. Tell me in plain language what Weir has done wrong. Having 3 jiggers on the place could have come from anywhere. I presume you've seen D. Weirs fingerprints on the device.

Secret surveillance footage taken at Melbourne-Cup winning horse trainer Darren Weir's Warrnambool and Ballarat properties is at the centre of the investigation into the alleged use of illegal shock devices on valuable thoroughbreds.

Weir, who was released without charge after being arrested on Wednesday, was questioned as part of a police probe into betting and animal cruelty that potentially saw electric shock "jiggers" being used to improve the performance of horses.

It is understood still pictures were shown to Weir when he was interviewed on Wednesday by detectives from the Victoria Police's sporting integrity unit.

While he initially co-operated, he refused to answer questions relating to the images.

Meanwhile, Chief Commissioner(Police) Graham Ashton has weighed in on the investigation.

Mr Ashton, who owns racehorses himself, said it was too early to say if criminal charges would be laid or whether the case would be referred to the racing regulatory environment.

Weir is innocent until proven guilty. The items found on his premises were released for the media to chow down on!!The Federal police are leading the investigation  (not just for the the last couple of months)which could mean there is something deeper here.Only time will tell.

Rowley, I respect your views on a number of threads, but surely you don't believe all you read?(Aussie feed streams?)My sources are well respected so that's all I can go by!RV and the RVI are the puppets in this show, they can hardly nail a picture to the wall let alone lead a case like this.Who is the puppeteer?

Everyone has their own opinion and I respect yours

Thanks Mooncoin, and I yours.......I'm a little bit closer than you, having trained at Flemington for 5 years when Weir was in short pants....I have some good contacts still in VIC......social media here has some very good 'detectives' of course you need to read between the lines, but V'Landys at Racing NSW is a gun, no bullshit, straight shooter, and he has banned Birchley, Currie and now issued Weir with a show cause, you see it's about integrity and perception, the Sheriffs have to not only be seen doing something to protect racing's public image, they have to do something......they did, and I agree....after the Cobalt fiasco here...oh and there in NZ.....with your tainted troughs crap.....everyone at Racing NSW is pro-active.....the fiasco in Melbourne with the Cobalt boys proved integrity and accountability is integral to public perception and acceptance, so, let's see what the Lawyers do next as Victoria is a vastly different animal to NSW!.

BTW.......the jiggers have been reported to have been locked up in a safe on the property.......now that's damning, hard to deny if they are in your safe I'm thinking.

Weirs story is going to be interesting.

Cheers

three charges are for the same thing. i.e. having a jigger. No mention of the intent for having the jiggers therefore most probably no evidence of having used them.

THe other charges supposedly for not fully cooperating in the inquiry. Most probably as a result of legal advice.

Well I'm not a trainer from Victoria e.g. Dabernig just waiting to get hold of the horses calling for Weir to be hung without a trial and the others just waiting like gouls. https://www.racing.com/news/2019-02-01/news-dabernig-comments-on-weir-investigation  (Or a past trainer for that matter.)

Must be something in the water that affects both past and present Victoria trainers.

I can assure you that Hayes, Hayes, Dabernig are not desperate "to be waiting to get a hold" of Weir's horses!
