When I used to frequent the Kohi Cafe in the good old days of whine women and song...and long blacks

Myself and the hoards of local blue rinses (who used to hang on my every word) had some decent old hum dinging 'discussions'

Mostly they were anti "Jacinda' types...voted ACT...and who wouldn't have had a clue on how to run a fish and chippie let along a flaming country

I could always shut them up by telling them "of course if you lot were in charge you'd have had ALL the answers to a never before experienced pan f in demic'

Anyway we used to always part on good terms after a good old debate had ensued...because that's what happens at almost ALL respectable establishments

One agrees to disagree..it's what our families fought for God bless them..and thank fuck we dont live in a Trump like dictatorial fascist state lead by a disgusting human being while filling his family coffers full of filthy white washed lucre from the despicable  murdering Saudis...is that too harsh?

Long live free speech and respectful debates ..and may the fleas of a thousands camels infest the orifices of any megalomaniacal looney who happens to take over NZ by force

I wasn't going to comment on your post @Thomass as you don't need much encourgement to go off piste!  You need to be thick skinned to run a forum website and above all be comfortable in your own opinions and expressing them i.e. not be too precious.  Plus be prepared to look dumb occasionally - no harm in learning something and admitting you didn't know it!

@TAB For Ever taught me a valuable lesson and although his insatiable positivity sometimes was a bit much he actually opened my eyes and I looked for the things he could see and found that there were positives to be found.  Sadly he also taught me that life is short which was reinforced yesterday when I learnt my longest friend who I've known since we first met in the sandpit at the Hokitika Free Kindergarten had suddenly passed away.  61 years of friendship.

Your description of the Kohi Cafe (my mate lived in the area and it was one of his coffee stops as did @TAB For Ever) debates reminds me of the ones I had there and the ones I frequently have at the locals pub table.  The face to face debate actually helps moderate opinions and derive the truth.  I'm afraid that your beloved Cindy knew that and that's the biggest reason she stopped us from meeting during lockdown either over a beer or a coffee. 

All that said I DON'T want endless snapshots taken at millisecond intervals of misplaced whips on BOAY!!!

what name you went by? 

for me, one I had, was  'abit roughhouse',  sadly so polluted by a toxic few...

Abit roughhouse, now there is a name from the past.  I recall you did indeed run a lot of competitions.  That was in the days when comps were not deemed important to chat sites, so you usually got the bum's rush from his nibs if things went wrong lol

I think these days they add a bit of light relief to the sterner world of vigorous debate.

I recall when I was helping Chief Stipe (CS) with the site when it was first set up, we ran a comp and within 2 weeks of starting the site, we got 38 entrants.  I recall it vividly, as someone commented on it.
