Riccarton Races for Wednesday All Open Until 9am

 

Due to the Gore races being abandoned on Sunday all races at Riccarton will remain open until 9am Monday 2 February. Late entries will drop to the bottom of the balloting  order.

Gore Guineas to be Rescheduled to Autumn

 

The Gore Guineas (LR) which was unable to be run last Sunday will be rescheduled to Autumn. A new date and confirmation of venue and distance will be advertised in the coming week. The moving of this race is subject to NZ Pattern Committee approval.

Or later. Who knows? Doesn't make much sense to me.

Sounds like they might change the distance as well? That would require further approval from the Pattern Committee.

Let me guess - could a particular Trainer have been on the phone?

Question is will March 8 be Wyndham or Gore, Gore Cup or Wyndham Cup, some compromise will be needed, one wonders if 2 day meeting, maybe Sunday, Wednesday/Thursday,  maybe one day goes to Ascot Park, Wyndham itself would have been mostly Southern runners but the real issue is the track, and the day lost which when you don't have too many days in the South need all they can get.
