Mmmmm

I've mentioned several times on here that I have a level of discomfort when I see the same family name competing against each other in harness races. My radar is especially up in NSW and Queensland.

Menangle raced on Tuesday.

R2. Paul Fitzpatrick trained the $1.50 raging hot favourite Jay Ok. Gavin Fitzpatrick drove the horse.

Blake Fitzpatrick trained the 50-1 shot Fantasy Miss and did the driving.

Jay Ok strolled to the lead in a breeze from 2 off the arm knowing full well the only horse inside him is the 50-1 shot which would be trailing him. Jay Ok is going peaches and cream in front under no pressure. Appeared to be pacing beautifully. Times and margins?

600 out Jay Ok went in to a gallop and Gavin Fitzpatrick quickly got out of the way which allowed the 50-1 Fantasy Miss to be gifted the lead. 100 metres later Jay Ok is back pacing smoothly again and didn't put a foot wrong for the rest of the race but it's chances were over. Fantasy Miss strolled away to win easily as if it was the $1.50 favourite.

Coincidence I'm sure but not a good look and not for the first time.

Would be very interested if there were any wagering irregularities on this event. I was told on Thursday by a mate in Sydney that money collected off the winner by two people he knew about would pay for a luxury world cruise and still have dosh left over.

Do you think those that got the big collect had some connection with the stable?.   Looking at the video it just looks like the horse in front galloped for no reason, and the way it went afterwards indicated it would have won but for the gallop.

Past dishonest happenings do undermine punters  confidence if they see a race involving some of those concerned, maybe its justified, maybe its not?

For fun I watched his previous trials form and races. Never looked like losing its gait even under pressure in any of them. Dodgy, real dodgy.  The driver looks to have pulled on the reins a fraction of a second before it broke if one watches the replay., almost similtaneuosly.  That's a set up if there was ever one.
