Harness Trifectas-NZ

Newmarket

Recommended Posts

I used to love betting on trifectas, but gave up several years ago, as the pools got smaller and smaller. Also, whenever i had good result, i would find that div was poor, due to pool size and those bloody easybets!

Those last 2 races at Rangiora today, tri should have paid heaps more.

What do others think?

I see what you mean, R9 the Quin was $110, you would expect the trifecta on that to be $15-1600, especialy with a $14 winner!! and r10 if you saw divs like that 30 years ago you would expect at least $3000, the pools a so diluted now ...

Thought same. I remember when trifectas first came out, pools where huge, many times at motukarara i got great collect 1st, 2nd any other runner, before easybets  of course.

I have given up on most exotics as well. The pools are so diluted these days but the powers that be don’t seem to realise all they are doing for the most part is splitting the same dollars across more pools and diluting the dividends.

A shame to be honest, and agree with all the comments on the poor returns, just stretches the punting dollar, with so many forms of betting available, be best to return to the original format, and try to keep the trifecta pools more financial.

The original idea of first fours on a couple of races a meeting was a good one not sure how they can justify both a tri and a first four on each race at the dogs.

They used to put the average trifecta dividend for racing in the racing calendar but stopped doing it a few years ago. I am guessing the main reason is the average trifecta dividend for racing has dropped massively and it is embarrassing to have it printed.
