Chief Stipe
Head of Racing Greg Kerr resigns Head of Racing Greg Kerr resigns Greg Kerr has announced his resignation today as Greyhound Racing New Zealand's Head of Racing and will be leaving in mid-September. Greg has accepted an exciting opportunity in Australia. He has always had a passion for dogs and has made an exceptional contribution to the greyhound industry, not just in racing, but also in the important areas of welfare and integrity. On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank Greg for being a much valued member of GRNZ for the last six years, and to wish him well in his new position. Yankiwi
The problem was identified quite some time ago. In their most recent decision, who was the better candidate for the CE position, Glenda or Greg? The answer is easy. If the Board wanted to industry to proceed & possibly prosper, Greg. If they want to run the industry in shut-down mode, Glenda. I don't blame him a bit for his choice to leave. Yankiwi
Maybe you're right Lad. I'll be looking for some big improvements under Glenda's leadership. We'll give it a year or so, as that seems to be about the length of time people last in the position. The benchmark hasn't been set very high by Mario or Phil. aquaman
There's more to this than meets the eye. Mario and now Kerr deserting the ship is not because of better opportunities. I suspect they know something that the plebs don't.
Short Stuff
Kerr was asked to apply for the job as racing manager in Aussie.

Regardless, his departure doesn't instill confidence among participants. Apart from a very small handful of staff, the last year has seen a complete changing of the guard. Given that the next twelve months will see major instability, litigation, new governance from the top, and now the code being run by newbies complete with "L" plates, I sit firmly on the skeptical benches. For those of you racing expect to see yet another period of discontent. Glenda dubbed "The Fixer" failed in her last job, has too many fingers in other pies, and has affectively taken on a demotion. Who will be her Tonto?
