Jacob
From a punters perspective, surely the race should have been abandoned because Thrilling Tucker could have easily finished first 4 with how well he was traveling when tripping over the ducks. Surely there are rules in place where an incident like this should be an automatic no race? Or the dogs scratched? I'm sure someone has the rules around these types of incidents
aquaman
Never mind Thrilling Tucker, I want to know what the vets report is into the condition of the ducks. Here they are minding their own business in their home, and a bunch of crazy dogs smash into them at 60kms an hr. Stuff the punters, ducks lives matter.
Yankiwi
My sources have confirmed that the duck had recently relocated to Cambridge from Palmerston North after they had heard about the lack of animal cruelty cases being enforced in the CD. However, the duck made a serious error in judgement by trusting that the GRNZ animal welfare code, which was being administered by the RIU, would keep it safe from danger in the new location. 43.2 No other animal shall be allowed on the Racecourse without the permission of the Steward(s). Since no other animals are allowed on the racecourse without the permission of the Steward, obviously the duck must have obtain permission to be on the track. Why wasn't the Steward reprimanded for authorizing such access? Alternately, if the duck was on the track without prior permission, then surely it would be the Stewards responsibly to declare a no-race. The effects of the collision didn't equally effect all of the dogs in the race. The moral of the story is that duck, rabbit & poodle lives (thus far) don't matter when it comes to the crooked self serving governance & justice system within the greyhound code. aquaman
I still want to know how the ducks fared. It didn't look good on the replays. Come on you useless tossers in the RIU, how the fook are they?, did the oncourse Vet attend to them?, get your fingers out of your arses. Duck lives matter. aquaman
Yes, I looked very closely at the replay freeing the picture at the moment of impact, and it looked very bad for the duck, and whats sad about this is, ducks mate for life, and I fear one of them lost their life's mate. Cruel lot this RIU and their cohorts in the NZGRA. Nothing but contempt for animal welfare. Sweep anything negative under the carpet, just as they bury dog deaths on the track by editing the replays, sanitizing the window for the watching audience. Very sad. Yankiwi
Their dilemma Aquaman is that welfare issues will ultimately close down the industry in NZ & probably world wide in all western countries. What they don't understand is trying to coverup the issues is actually worse than addressing them head on. The coverup is the food for the anti's & it seems that a day doesn't go by (other than Saturdays) where GRNZ and/or the RIU serves up a fresh lot of hush hush for the anti's plate. What happened to the duck unfortunately happened. There's no going back on it now. Instead of taking the issue head on, addressing it & implementing measures to stop something similar from happening again, they just think it's water under the bridge & expect everyone to forget about it, just like the rabbit & poodle. Ducks on/near the track & running rail have been an issue at Cambridge for as long as I've been following Greyhounds. What has anyone done about it? Would Auckland Airport identify a similar problem & ignore it for many years? If a duck then ultimately took down an aircraft because of their inability to mitigate the risk, would they make a one sentence statement at the end of the day after all takeoffs & arrivals had been completed without interrupting the air traffic for the rest of that day? What would they do about the next day? The sport is f*cked & the way it's being run prior to its ultimate demise is just hastening its progression towards its own doom. Kiwigreys
Are you guys assuming they were ducks? With all the “genders” etc nowadays maybe they identified as Greyhounds or even sand😂😂
