Mikie
Can anyone tell me why the Industry is paying a Recruitment Consultant for the above when it is obvious the current CEO will switch back to this Director's position? Mikie
Happy Sunrise
Following a process. Makes a change from what went on earlier in the year. The advertisement makes it very clear what is going to happen. Do not apply!
Brodie
As long as It is someone who has the best interests of harness racing at heart! Needs to be strong minded and a good negotiator and not some limp wrist weasel who just accepts what is offered!! They need to have business success and not come from somewhere that has laid them off, as all that shows is that they were superfluess to where they came from! If they appoint the wrong person just to fill the seat, then harness racing will never recover! People may think that the $70m odd was the saviour of racing, however things are still looking pretty sick at the TAB! Actually, has anyone at all seen or heard of our current CEO of HRNZ? What on earth is he being paid for?? Great appointment not!, Edited October 23, 2020 by Brodie

Well, not much recently. I would say he wants the Director job back so he has less to do. More talking and less real action in that job. From what I can only judge from afar, Holden doesn't seem to be the type to roll his sleeves up. The new CEO will be one of their own. The industry seems to have a penchant for jobs for the boys and I can't see that changing.

Will this do for the CEO? Catherine McDonald named as General Manager, Racing HRNZ. 27 October 2020 , News Harness Racing New Zealand has announced its new General Manager, Racing. Catherine McDonald has been appointed to the position, effectively replacing Darrin Williams who left after 26 years to take up a position at Addington Raceway. “I’m really excited to be joining the HRNZ team,” she says. “Catherine brings exceptional depth both commercially and strategically to the GM Racing role that will add real value and deliver strong benefit to HRNZ as we move forward,” says HRNZ Interim Chief Executive Phil Holden. “Catherine comes to us from Lincoln University where she was a special projects manager initially supporting the university with its earthquake claims then moving onto to a project managing the successful business case for a new $80m science facility development.” McDonald has also worked at the Christchurch City Council where she led teams on a variety of major city initiatives and projects. She has been heavily involved with the racing industry : “I was born and bred into harness racing, arriving on Cup day and I’ve been an owner, breeder and trainer.” Her family’s breeding success stories include Master Musician and the best horse she trained was three-win pacer Fear Me in the mid 1990s. “I am excited about the commercial capability and impact Catherine will deliver for both HRNZ and the wider industry,” said Holden. McDonald starts at HRNZ on November 9, a day before the New Zealand Cup.
Happy Sunrise
Heavens, she has a UDR better than the All Stars in 1995! Very nice to see someone who has trained and has knowledge of harness racing. I stand corrected on my lack of faith in the process.

My mail is before Christmas, with the current CEO being paid until 31.3.21, although that must surely be in doubt if he is again collecting an Independent Director’s fee Mikie
