And what if the vet had said , no it's fine you can give right up to the day of the race , which could easily have been the situation given the lack of knowledge around the substance . 

My point being vets shouldn't just be able to walk away with no accountability in these situations , highly paid professionals .

No they shouldn't.  But then what the hell is Grierson doing?  Shouldn't he be driving a change to how the systems is setup?  How many decades has he been on the industry tit?

Same in total as Jamie Richards, Te Akau for a first offence - although the total in Richards case included costs.  However the difference is one was environmental contamination and the other was deliberate albeit misguided administration.
