Chief Stipe Posted June 2, 2021 Posted June 2, 2021 KIWI POWER Don’t mention this in the Hunter Valley, but Kukeracha’s win in the Queensland Derby on Saturday meant all six Australian Derbies this season have been won by New Zealand-bred horses. Explosive Jack (by Jakkalberry) won in New South Wales, Tasmania and South Australia, Johnny Get Angry (Tavistock) won in Victoria, Western Empire (Iffraaj) won in Western Australia and Kukeracha (Night Of Thunder) won in Queensland. Kukeracha, who raced in Neville Morgan’s well known blue and white silks, was bred at Waikato Stud and sold for $130,000 at Karaka in 2019. Quote
Freda Posted June 3, 2021 Posted June 3, 2021 It's a moot point..but I think if a horse is foaled here, it is deemed to have been bred here. Doesn't seem to matter if mum and dad are foreigners. Quote
Huey Posted June 3, 2021 Posted June 3, 2021 Saw this and thought the same , clutching at straws with the latest one, especially given by what looks like a very good sire. Quote
nomates Posted June 3, 2021 Posted June 3, 2021 Same with the official breeder , the owner at time of foaling is the official breeder even if they only purchased the mare the previous week . The person who may have spent hours and hours putting the mating togeather get no recognition . Quote
