nomates
Just seen the field for the G# 80k race at Te Rapa on Tuesday , WTF ! this is hitting new depths , no better than an average Saturday handicap . We have serious issues that need addressing .
holy ravioli
Rosehill R1 rating 78 1200m=$141000. I doubt NZ racing ,quality wise can be saved. Too many years of gravytraining and neglect. 3
nomates
Then i watch a race at Tauranga R4 which shows everything that is wrong with race riding in NZ and shows that the apprentices are obviously not learning anything , T Yanagida riding Caramella , lobs outside the leader , perfect , then the Fav who is 3 wide moves to go forward Yanagida rides his horse to try and keep him out , why ? take the sit in the 1x1 , perfect but he's riding his hard for nothing , drops right out , yeah he stuffs the fav but at what cost to the owners and punters of Caramello . Will he get a talking to from the stipes or Harris , doubtful , see this crap all to often and not just from apprentices . Simply not good enough .

And then we get to watch Callum Jones absolutely slaughter Tavi Mac , WTF are these guys thinking about when they are riding . It's so bad it's not even funny . AS will rip him a new one , i can see why he doesn't ride too many of the stable horses .
holy ravioli
the professionalism at ALL facets of racing points you away from betting on NZ races. As an old campaigner you and many others are loyal and I respect that. I gave up years ago,and really look forward to days like today in Aussie. Theysay Honkers is the apex, but I'm happy with Sydney/Melbourne.
nomates
Mentioning T Yanagida , watched him in the first race and was quite angry at him , he was on the winner 10l clear with a 150 mtrs to go , never looked behind to see what was happening but gave the 3yo filly 3/4 decents hits behind the saddle when really not required , i hate seeing horses get hit when they are clearly beaten and just as unnecessary when going to win easily . I am finding it harder for sure , and i wasn't joking when suggesting that possibly the best thing for NZ racing was to have it administered from Australia . Doomed
Nest Egg was given no chance in the 3rd at Awapuni, and that was Kozzi who is supposed to be quite good.

Not suggesting he ease up but a slap over the shoulder would have done . Opie wasn't 10 clear and the horses were running on , he got cocky .

HR as a punter if you have backed that horse and couldn't see that it wasn't packing it in , which is what i thought it had to do the way it had run thru the first 800 , but more importantly i could see that none of the others were making any substantial headway by the 200 , so it was clear that it had the race . Now the jockey on top only had to take a couple of looks to see pretty much the same , i am not suggesting he had to ease up , but a couple of slaps over the shoulder would have kept her up to her work . 42 minutes ago, holy ravioli said: Opie has done it more than once...Roy Higgens has done it..and many others. I do not doubt your conclusions re the race you mention I agree jockeys should ride their mounts out.HK is religious on this. What I am saying is that a number of top jockeys are guilty of the the same sin...6-7-8 lengths ..it matters not.
