aquaman
14 hours ago, Chief Stipe said: That's rubbish Tank. If you burgle the corner dairy the penalty is the same as burgling Harvey Norman. I very much doubt that any more people saw the Grand National than those watching the Maiden at Pukekohe. What's more the apparent victim in either race is still a horse. The bigger the event, the bigger the penalty. Why, because jockeys are more inclined to transgress the rules because more money and prestige is involved, therefor a bigger deterrent is needed. Example Golden Slipper, Melbourne Cup, penalties reflect the status of the race because Jockeys are more inclined to do desperate things. As for the analogy of the corner dairy and Harvey Norman I disagree. Try robbing a Bank as against the corner dairy and see if the sentences are the same. I remember the Great Train robbery in England. The robbers held up a train and made of with millions of pounds, nobody killed although some violence dished out to the train driver. Aggravated robbery causing injury and they got like 30 years. Now i'm sure if it had been a corner dairy instead of a train with millions of pounds the sentence would be nothing like 30years if the same paralle's applied. Nothing is equal in life when it comes to money.

If Animal Welfare is the issue then it doesn't matter if the Dairy was burgled for a packet of cigs WITH a gun or Harvey Norman was burgled for an iPhone 10 WITH a gun!!! Penalties shouldn't be LOADED for so called superior races over inferior races. They should be the same in terms of suspension. The horse doesn't know the difference!!!

You don't think having different rules for the elite vs the not so elite is a blight on the integrity of racing? From an Animal Welfare perspective it doesn't matter if the race is a Maiden hack at Hokitika or the Derby. Perhaps the Stipes should get off their butts and talk to the jockeys before EVERY race!
Brown fox
Instead of the 8 week stand down how about 2 week suspension and a 6 month whip suspension?

I'm sorry but I dislike amateurs wasting moi's time..it's there in the report.. ..and before any smarty pants says welts aren't inflamed whip marks...the def. for welts is "a raised mark"...inflamed is a raised mark...ok marky? Mr McLaughlin produced as evidence photos taken by Racing Investigator, Mrs K Williams, of the rear left hindquarter of JACKFROST which clearly showed inflamed whip marks. As I thought...a time waster You're playing semantics...is he your partner or something? Do you want me to insert the def. for INFLAMED as well...or do you not think INFLAMED is RAISED? welt wɛlt/ noun plural noun: welts 1. a leather rim sewn round the edge of a shoe upper to which the sole is attached. 2. a red, raised mark

Thomass
What does INFLAMED indicate to you Marky? ..have any of your body parts been inflamed lately... after being whipped by the local dom? Or self inflicted perhaps? And its nothing to do with the Encephalitis bogan Bazz has to deal with daily either... is the WHOLE whip padded or just a third of it...do you know? And does the jockey strike the animal with the padded bits...10/10 times? ...and finally have you observed the head on cam sham of the race yet?
