TE RAPA's hopeless incompetent Track Managment...INQUIRY NOW

Thomass

Recommended Posts

Well Kenny said the contractors used a different sifting procedure...and the big ones got through!!

Telling yesterday though...Oatham was interviewed and said

"the drains are now becoming blocked...and a very bad area has become apparent on the turn out of the straight"

ffs...this track appears totally rooted

Will NZTR open an INQUIRY behind the f up...

...and insist any track repairs on any track....should come under the auspices of themselves...

...so there's no more f ups?

...and if there is...they're solely responsible...not Kenny...who forgot to supervise a piss up in a Brewery

Agree, are they not all busy making money elsewhere

Not just Rutherford to fall either, all those that run the club KFE and mob

It’s called accountability .....something that does not exist in NZ..in just about every aspect of life.

in fact, not only should Ken Rutherford be removed but Karen Fenton Ellis needs to make a public statement in her capacity as Chairman of the Board of Waikato Racing Club as to how this happened and what they are going to do to remedy a hopeless situation. Then she should resign . That’s called accountability.

But of course, it will be all those who depend on the course for various aspects of their day to day living that will be left holding the can...that’s accountability NZ style.

In fact, picnic race clubs are run better in Australia because they are held accountable.  credibility...but when your central body charged with running the industry is so flawed then problems such as Te Rapa happen under everyone’s nose and no one is responsible...gimme a break...it’s amazing to think this country can actually get out of bed each day and function.

Let's get the right oil shall we...directly from Kenny

After the Waikato RC meeting on February 10, the course proper was sand carpeted. The sand was applied by the same contractor as the Club has used in the past. Whilst the actual sand is the same quality, the sifting process differed and bigger particles were applied to the track.

Four (4) mms of sand was asked by the Club to be applied. The contractor spread up to 3 cms of sand in certain places.

Remedial work was completed on the inside 12 metres of the course proper after the May 19 meeting. With the rail back to a True position for the next meeting on July 7, the Club is confident the racing surface will be of a good standard”.

Doesn't make sense

When u run something through a sieve it retains the coarser particles allowing the finer ones to pass through

So, from what I can see at least 4 things went wrong here. The wrong filter fabric was laid (I assume that's what Thommo means by "gauzy stuff"), 10 times the amount of sand carpet was laid than was supposed to be, that sand was the wrong grade, and miraculously neither the contractor or Te Rapa staff noticed, or if they did they decided not to worry about it.

The latter may require a large number needing a trip to specsavers or quite a few DCMs. There's only two ways the other things could have happened. Either the wrong grades and quantities were specified, or the contractor can't read. Who was the contractor?

To put all the hearsay to rest, how about the Chairman of the Board, actually release a statement advising the facts and what they are doing to remedy the track surface...actually it’s pretty important .... the track is one of the country’s premier venues....is that too difficult to expect?

Why would you expect that would be anything but a continuation of the current fairy story

There must have been someone in authority on site with the necessary expertise to make a call that the grade of sand was incorrect

It's the same old story, once you tell one porky you have to keep on

Well said MM ..I am disappointed that KFE has been noticeably quiet in the aftermath. As a PR expert she may have advised herself to keep her head below the parapet for a while, but as Chairman of a very high profile and important racing organisation she should be showing better leadership qualities ..ie explaining what happened; apologising for it; outlining all actions that are being taken to deal with the consequences; and prevention measures. That's what a Chairman should be doing in these circumstances, IMO. As you say, accountability.

The silence is deafening.  Typical spin tactics though - "let's wait - we've got the industry awards (=smoke) and then Winstons announcement (=mirrors")....hopefully the sand (noise) will drain (go) away."

Geez who'd pay their membership fees for this season if no racing is going to happen?
