Good day for NZers in Oz. Callsign Mav finally cracks his Aussie group one. The Taplins get a winner on the Gold Coast and I see Brent Gray scored there as well. Didn't he come from Reefton?

Pretty sure he did, yes.  I hadn't seen anything about him for years, didn't realise he was still training.

Yep. Got the first horse I trained from him. Top bloke and very good horseman. Had wondered where he was.

May have trained a horse called Mutual Belle tidy performer, also one called wandering star from memory, was many a year back probably a few more I've forgotten.

Did he have one something like Pinstripe, seems to ring a bell. Mutual Belle was a good mare, quite a while ago now.

yes he had Mutual Belle and Pinstripe plus one I think called Mississippi Red which was handy.  He was the son of our long time President Ken Gray(great bloke) who died a few months back.  I hadn't seen him myself for years but of course he was at the funeral
