CJC Membership Base

Is the CJC board aware of why their membership base is shrinking so fast?

From latest financial accounts (membership income):

2022 - $195k

2021 - $227k

2020 - $237k

Yet more questions the board should be asking their CEO

Perhaps they've reduced the membership fees? 🤣🤣

An owner [ and friend ] said to me, some weeks ago, how do I go about becoming a member of the CJC ?     Ring them, I suppose, I said, unhelpfully.

He had gone on his phone, found the website, and followed the prompts to where he could apply to become a member.

But, when he got to the page, it told him that membership applications were now closed for the 22-23 season.

He said, I  thought they would have been pleased to welcome new members.  I thought so too.

After making some enquiries,  my friend was advised to contact Alison, from the front desk, who would sort it all for him.

However, he subsequently decided, after Cup week, that he didn't really want to bother with an outfit that couldn't even get the small things right, never mind the big stuff.

When the Sydney Turf Club was in full swing [prior to the merge with AJC] they would offer half price membership if you joined after Dec 24th........the take up was terrific........but we are talking about a club that was loaded with dynamic, inventive successful people, something the CJC are devoid of, and the fail meister is of course.....the boss.......he seems to have tenure of employment, can someone explain to me....why is that so?

That's a bit harsh. They do run a good piss up, and this year they discovered it goes even more smoothly, and is more popular, if you don't let races get in the way. I imagine that is a lesson they will take heed of going forward.

Who knows, what looked like being a disaster initially could end up being a valuable discovery.

It was made even better because the sound system was stuffed, we could not hear the few races that were run. Shit, why let the race commentary get in the way of a good piss up.

When they did call off the races it took some time to register because the announcement was inaudible. I was in the Phar Lap Room and decided to party on but the queue to the bar took me 20 minutes to get to front of. The answer is less Tote staff and more Cow Bell!

Ugh I mean more bar staff. 😁
