Ludwig
Just wondering about the excessive number of trotters breaking in the south. At recent meetings, there have been more gallopers than trotters . Today's meeting at Omakau had one trotting race, in particular, that was shambolic. It is often the same horses, but what action do the stewards take? The odd warning on the odd horse., and a slap on the wrist. It's really not good enough. Time standards were enforced and the public given a more acceptable product.

The harness racing over the past few days has presented some great opportunities to make good money. Not hard to make $ this time of year on harness.

There's little punishment, often they have to trial once. All the trainer does it take it to a trials give it a quiet run. Often there only one or two starters, sometimes only one, so the horse does everything right and it is ok to race next week. Then the same happens. Others horses seem to go good for a few starts then go rogue. I'm think of Alister Blacks Wai Key Wei a horse with plenty of ability but has broken in his last two starts. Before that he was trotting soundly so not sure what the problem is? Let's just say some trotters are not consistent....
