Chief Stipe
I'm on course and have no idea why they have called it off.
The Centaur
Its marvelous that we can rely on Avondale with always a good surface. Great for transferring Pukekohe to Avondale to save the track for the million dollar races. Oh well just an idea??
Chief Stipe
The track is sand based. There is no way any horse slipped.

Shad
I think Wellington had a winter meeting cancelled due to the cold weather some years ago.
aquaman
Are the jocks soft now?, just asking. Maybe time they sought other forms of work because NZ racing is being destroyed from within.

There was a great crowd there and it would have been a colossal day if it wasn't raining. I note the conditions were good enough for two jockeys to compete in the Open 3 legged race in the rain. I also noted that some of the horsemanship in the birdcage and going onto the track was a bit substandard. I'm guessing that the race riding standard was worse and that is a declining quality problem. They'll be asking for the races to be called off for sunstrike next.
