holy ravioli
Fantastic racehorse.Had some great battles with a Kiwi horse Triton. As for Greys-the 'Washdyke wonder', Grey Way was a champ. Try the Easter he won...never see a better field.

That was a fabulous field -Bob [jockey; told me he had nowhere to go in the final stages so he closed his eyes and the horse found its gap all by himself
muzenza365
Lucky enough to be one of the 13 jockeys who won on Grey Way and i can remember like it was yesterday. At the top of the straight I am in a power of trouble, then after a bit of encouragement , he swaps legs and into another gear and then the race was all over.
Freda
Do you remember Pat working his pacer with him? Can't think of his name, but he was a fair horse in his own right.

I was lucky enough to see his last four wins. Strangely enough the one I remember best was his last win at Rangiora when he beat Gretna Green. He was giving her a truck load of weight and she went up outside him and looked like winning easily when he switched into an extra gear as Muzenza mentioned. His Timaru Cup was also memorable. Great crowd response despite him paying one of his biggest ever winning divis.

The other horse of his I remember was Clipper Run, a very good mare who had a great record at Riccarton if I recall correctly. I think she came along after Grey Way. Penny Hargraves acquired the family - through Khurasan I think - and daughter Sophie has bred from it for years. The best recently has been smart gelding El Santo, and currently the useful mare Santisssima.
