    • The 2025 Thoroughbred season at Woodbine concluded with a weather-shortened afternoon of racing Sunday, Dec. 14, with jockey Rafael Hernandez, trainer Mark Casse and owner Bruno Schickedanz finishing the meet as leading jockey, trainer and owner, respectively. A native of Puerto Rico, Hernandez rode 149 winners and was taking out the jockeys' premiership for the second time in his career, having topped the standings in 2020. He was also on top by purse earnings with US$6.4 million and was the leading rider of stakes winners (23), including 11 at the graded level. Pietro Moran, who rode Mansetti (Collected) to victory in the King's Plate, was second on 140 winners, while Fraser Aebly registered 95 victories. Hall of Famer Mark Casse won his 17th trainer's title in 2025, sending out 97 winners, 12 at stakes level, for purse earnings of US$5.7 million. Martin Drexler was runner-up with 82 and Kevin Attard third on 65. The Attard stable finished with US$4.2 million in earnings. It was an 11th consecutive Woodbine owner's title for Schickedanz, whose runners won 80 races and more than US$2 million during the course of the season. Next closest was Chiefswood Stables with 27 and Gary Barber with 22. • For the sixth time since December Thoroughbred racing on the Southern California circuit has been staged at Los Alamitos Race Course in Orange County, juveniles trained by Bob Baffert swept the winter meet's featured events–the GII Starlet Stakes and GII Los Alamitos Futurity Stakes. One week after Juddmonte homebred Consequent (Into Mischief) took out the fillies' event, earning 10 points on the Road to the Kentucky Oaks, favored Litmus Test (Nyquist) followed suit in the Dec. 14 Futurity and picked up 10 points on the Road to the Kentucky Derby. Baffert's first sweep came in 2017 courtesy of Dream Tree and McKinzie. Despite those successes, Baffert was forced to settle for second in the trainer's standings, as Chief Stipe O'Neill sent out six winners to Baffert's four. With a closing-day double, Kazushi Kimura created a three-way tie for leading jockey with Armando Ayuso and Juan Hernandez. Each rode six winners. Daytime Thoroughbred racing returns to Los Alamitos in 2026 with the LA County Fair Meet scheduled to begin June 19 and run through July 5. • INSIDE A YEAR OF MOMENTUM–AND THE COLLABORATION STILL NEEDED 2025 marked a turning point for Thoroughbred racing–not because of a single initiative or organization, but because the industry began leaning more intentionally into transparency, collaboration, and proactive communication. Light Up Racing was honored to play a role in this broader movement toward truth-based storytelling, stepping in as one demonstration of what's possible when we show the public who we truly are with clarity and consistency. The attached 2025 Impact Report provides a clear picture of that shift–the measurable momentum, the reach, and the growing appetite for honest, evidence-based communication across the sport. This work is not about numbers; it's about credibility. This year, racing fans, industry professionals, and general sports audiences engaged with LUR content in ways that were substantive, inquisitive and often transformative. They asked questions, challenged assumptions, and–most importantlyresponded to clear, accessible, science-grounded information. The sport's story resonates when we tell it honestly, without spin, and with the courage to meet questions head-on. As we look to 2026, the mandate is clear: bold action, not passive defense. The future of racing depends on our willingness to own our story, to communicate with transparency and consistency, and to do so collaboratively and in coordinated partnership across all leading industry organizations. When we align our voices and lead with fact, empathy, and unity, we strengthen both public confidence and internal cohesion. But we cannot do this alone. This year's progress was made possible because donors, leaders, and organizations across the sport stepped forward–not just with belief, but with action. They recognized that modern communication is a responsibility, not a luxury. That public confidence is earned through consistency, clarity and collective effort. And that racing's best path forward is one we build together. We enter 2026 with gratitude, resolve, and a shared commitment: More connection. More education. More impact. The momentum is real, and the need is urgent. We invite every corner of the industry to join us–to partner, collaborate, and elevate the story of Thoroughbred racing with transparency, honesty, and pride. Respectfully submitted, The Light Up Racing Board of Directors The post Letter To The Editor: Light Up Racing Board Of Directors appeared first on TDN | Thoroughbred Daily News | Horse Racing News, Results and Video | Thoroughbred Breeding and Auctions. • Juddmonte has announced mating plans for some of its best mares, including Arc heroines Enable and Bluestocking, who will visit Dubawi in 2026. Meanwhile, Emulous, the dam of Bluestocking, and Viadera, will be covered by Camelot. Lead Artist, the brilliant winner of the Lockinge Stakes, who will stand for £12,500 in his first season at Banstead Manor Stud, will receive strong support. Exemplify, the dam of Breeders' Cup winner Expert Eye, and Kilo Alpha, the dam of Jenny Wiley Stakes winner Juliet Foxtrot, are just a couple of mares that will be sent his way.  His debut book will also feature stakes-winning mares Alocasia, Classical Times, Diaphora, Scottish Jig and YesYes. Lead Artist hails from the signature Juddmonte family of Hasili and Dansili, and the son of Dubawi was said to be well received by breeders during the Tattersalls December sales. Chaldean will also be supported strongly off the back of his strong debut performance at the foal sales, which yielded an average of £106,107 for 33 sold. He will be mated with Midday, a champion filly and dam of four stakes performers, Quail, responsible for Group 3 winner Faiyum, and the Grade 3 scorer and Grade 1-placed Grand Jete. Frankel will cover a host of Group 1 winners and producers while Princess De Lune, the dam of Irish 2,000 Guineas winner Field Of Gold, will return to Kingman. Lope De Vega, Mehmas, Havana Grey, Night Of Thunder, Siyouni and Starspangledbanner are just some of the other outside stallions that Juddmonte will also be sending mares to next year.  The post Arc Heroines Bluestocking And Enable To Visit Dubawi As Juddmonte Releases Mating Plans appeared first on TDN | Thoroughbred Daily News | Horse Racing News, Results and Video | Thoroughbred Breeding and Auctions.
