If they can run home the last 600m in a tick over 33 and the fastest part of that sectional is the last 400m why can't they break 1:10? Obviously the straight isn't soft is it? -
Race 5 Result . The PURE Steel for tough horses . and fittingly the tough NZer Triple Eight Wins . my pick for the race too as won it last year. He still has a kiwi part owner in Scott Plant too , who took him to Open class in NZ 6 or 7 years ago. TRIPLE EIGHT , the tough kiwi wins !!!!! for Brodie in the Comp too. Blackie zipped home for 3rd with kiwi bred Tango Tara , the other kiwi bred was 4th for Chief = Rock and Roll Doo. Yes I believe it does. The horses lose their confidence and a bit of speed. Takes them maybe 80m - 100m to pull it together and balance up. Those that are in the front have got a 3 length break and that half second is hard to make up with only 300m left. That's my theory anyway. It is worse when it rains as I reckon the track turf floats because it has been sliced and diced during the week with tynes. -
My reference to 'smashing' was focusing on the individual jockey in question who gets little slack from the stipes
