I see that Lib Petagna owns Tardelli (in the Levin Classic) named after the Italian footballer who scored the goal that clinched the 1982 World Cup Final against West Germany. Lib being an Italian boy from Island Bay would no doubt be a big fan. -
I agree. That surprises me as well. I guess many of them just don't have any sort of overview. They appear to be quite content, so who are we to bother. -

Then where are the South Island Trainers screaming from the rooftops? The SI Leading Trainers seem to to have lost their tongues. I guess they get what they wish for. -
To be fair any true follower of form could not have backed it the way it was going! The way the starter let them go also affected the race greatly. Punters will not offload on these shambles of standing starts if they persist with accepting poor performance from the starters! Is there anyone genuinely thinking that the standing starts are actually being fair to all??????? Brad Steel should be having a harsh word to his starters that he is responsible for and advise them that their performance is not up to standard . -
I don't see what that has to do with anything. Any club can do that but Ellerslie is obviously in a better financial situation than most to do so. The NZTR contribution from their stakes distribution is the same. This however seems to be an additional race, not part of the original programme committee approval, with funding beyond what is standard for such a race. It would be unseemly if that extra funding is coming from the NZTR stakes funding pool in preference to other uses.
