    • Timaru Track Inspection   Due to significant rain received at Phar Lap raceway over the past week there will be a track inspection at around noon on Saturday. An update will be posted off the back of that meeting.
    • At the end of the day, there is nothing we can do about how it is going to pan out! I have had plenty to say, and hopefully the new CEO from Entain can step up and be more hands on with the way the cash splash is handled. Not being personal but It appears that the ones that have been making the decisions for harness are struggling with the task? No media BS is going to change things, it needs someone prepared to look at it as a business and operate it as such, as the money is going to run out.
    • I don't need to wake up thanks . I'm not in the race. I have that many whip tales i could write chapters on it. Yes horses racing and gambling is prone to cheating as you say  . we see only a fraction of what really is happening , that is the REAL  cheating though  . we all know Fine Cotton and that sort of thing. but ......... Every race (like those Grand Tour Cyclists who gets away with things for so long) their is Deliberate Chemical enhancement of a horse's chances, and I can tell you there are a few 'Dubious tactics ' employed to get horses to the post in 'Winning Order' . you have no idea what real cheating is. Positives are being overturned by the Juggernaut stables now as they have ways (and lawyers and BS)  to cover their tracks a lot lately.  you pick out a Single drive in Formula One as an example, BUT the bloke drives tons of races under extreme pressure (and G forces) of course you are going to calculate an error at times. or even drive angry lol 😂 Opie may have had a selfish dangerous ride you mention but i've seen Tommy Berry and Hugh Bowman (you talk experience shouldn't do it ) BUT they committed such dangerous acts at Randwick recently, their rival jockey was on the ground nearly killed and the horse they were riding was killed. It happens that way occasionally,  and sadly.  I haven't been in races with these jockeys , nor know their attitude. but do know it is ONE of the TOUGHEST Sports gigs going.  A few whip strikes (when horses Can't even count) makes Fuckall difference to them. they're tired anyway.  Michael Walker deliberately over did the whip in Melbourne Cup (twice) to run a place and had $10,000 fine. It's the heat of the moment and BIG races and little races . you're gunna go for it mate. you're just not gunna sit up and start counting.   BUT Yes you have to try and improve your technique (no matter what experience) to fit in with the current guidelines.Jumping on a chaff bag in the tuck room is a good way for the jockeys to practice. Perhaps you could join in and help them to count ?? while you're awake .
    • Unfortunately that's what the restrictions have become. If you look likely there might be a chance you are possibly able to make money in anyway shape or form in Australia they will cut you off. It was only a matter of time before that happened here as well.
    • you mention db,last year db had a drop in operating profit of25%. they laid off staff including 60 at one of their main breweries.lion lost $46 million. i like that your trying to be positive, but its not the reality on the ground amongst the silent majority.  its interesting that earlier you were advocating for more slot races, which remember, hrnz is now pumping funds into and then you were also saying $15,000 maidens at addington is too much. personally I struggle to see how prioritising the small % who operate at the elite level over the 90% who operate at the lower levels, will lead to anything other than people getting out of the sport and not breeding. And thats what is happening. People just look at the hrnz website news and evaluate who they think the industry is prioritising and then they are saying, well thats not me ,i'm already struggling, its not going to get any better for m,e so reluctantly those people start getting rid of their broodmares and many others, already in the background in different parts of the sport, are fading out of sight.
