    • I don't know. i can't see how anyone could have complained if he made the very obvious forward move. I bet most who backed it would be saying very negative things about that ride.   Like i said,i completely disagree with your opinion. Personally i thought that ride was amongst the worst i've seen. But he is a 4kg claimer so these things can happen andhe will know doubt get better.  but like i have also said,if you happen to watch every race in the south island closely, like i have been in recent months, there seems to be a pattern in how that stables horses are ridden, when ridden by apprentices. Which is why i think it may be related to the instructions they are getting. In other words,i think its obvious sometimes the galloping trainers don't have much confidence in their jockeys,so try to think of everything for them and instead of helping them its actually hindering their chances and over complicating things in the inexperienced jockeys minds. lAnd i think the stable i mention is an example of where that happens a lot. the a carston stable i see has trained 20 winners so far this year earning $772,000. Quite impressive. Whats not so impressive is their strike rate which is the 2nd worst of the top 75 trainers. his horses do always look really good and healthy
    • Well it used to be that you didn't get the money in your account until the Judge declared ALL the placings.  Now if the result is clear cut you get your winnings damn near before the wheel of the cart has gone past the post!
    • The one I uploaded which is the same race you started the post about. It wasn't horse 11 that was overracing.  It was horse 2 that was and it finished 2nd.  Horse 11 couldn't go with it.  He lost 10 lengths because he couldn't go quick enough.  You were looking at the wrong horse!
    • Google Jamie Searle Invercargill. His workmate Logan Savoury had a very good 'story' /tribute  about Jamie in the Southland Tribune last week.
    • Interesting race actually. The jockey had two options, the option he took didn't work as he has no momentum coming into the straight. We will never know if option two, getting the horse rolling from the 600m, might have worked or not. If he had tried option two and got run down, people would have complained about him going too early. Option two always looks impressive when it comes off.
