  1. Exactly. That's where my interest started. Attending the local meetings at Westland and Kumara.
  2. ...and that correlates how?
  3. Why? They all had their own individual relationship with Lee and they're all making their own decision are they not?
  4. When were there ever regular trials, jump outs or trackwork on any of the West Coast tracks? I don't recall going to any.
  5. You're closer to the horses than any track in NZ.
  6. I wish they'd bring back the tote bells, the semaphore board and the balloon.
  7. The Clubs have been doing that all over the CD and it will happen at the Wellington Cup meeting. A sign of appreciation for a job well done over a number of decades. A novel concept in today's world.
  8. With that sort of attitude you could get a well paid job at NZTR. Well as a lad growing up on the West Coast that meeting and the one at Westland got me interested in the game. I must say a lot of my mates as well.
  9. It was $20 if you pitched up at the gate. $15 if you pre-booked online. Yep wouldn't be many small Clubs that would thumb their noses at $30k.
  10. So you're just Anti-racing fullstop? Given you appear to not consider Kumara yesterday to have been a success.
  11. Most but not all. If they were wouldn't programming be better than it is?
  12. Well if it isn't it should be!
  13. Even more reason to have internet access available oncourse!
  14. Which would make it even more important for a Club like Motukarara to have WiFi access oncourse! (A discussion ongoing on the Harness Forum).
  15. I wasn't including gate takings as part of oncourse turnover. With regard to the 8% that does that include bets made oncourse through the mobile app?
  16. Yes well unfortunately most trainers aren't up to speed with computers and are slow with their stable returns and manually notify their nominations.
  17. Even Without A Fight and Soulcombes runs in the last Melbourne Cup!
  18. But those front runners all had high cruising speeds - makes it tough to come from behind regardless of the track. Sunline was the classic high cruise speed front runner. She could string fast furlongs together one after the other.
  19. I disagree. Sometimes back runner Jockeys will leave their run too late but with the camber and the Strathayr there isn't a bias stopping you from coming wide...early! That's the surface.
  20. That's Gai Waterhouse's approach. Distort what view? I think everyone who has something positive to say about Kumara is just applauding what looked like a great day out with a crowd that Trentham, Awapuni, Riccarton and Te Rapa would have been happy with. Many seeds of future racing interest sown yesterday.
  21. Then make sure they walk the talk in the future. Who is the "in crowd"?
  22. Your point? If you have a horse good enough and with the lead up form you'll have no trouble paying those nom fees.
  23. The nomination fees are normally for Grp races - mostly there are no fees. One thing about nomination fees for the big races is it eliminates the inexperienced tyre kickers.
  24. You find it hard to find a connection to what? Profitability?
