  1. Saville needs to be investigated
  2. Yeah well it was this type of reaction that some decided it was best to do their own thing. That's the thing about the internet - a relatively low cost of entry. Shame our industry leaders dont recognise that and realise they don't have a monopoly.
  3. You've been "orf" for ages although I think Freda misses you Barny.
  4. To be frank none of what has been written approaches anywhere near what I've seen on the America's Cup forum that I visit. All tame really! BTW on that forum there is a poster that rights exactly like our old friend Thomaas!
  5. I don't see what all the fuss is about. If a poster here is answering or providing clues to a quiz elsewhere which is open to all albeit those who are "allowed" to post there so what?
  6. It has been bought to my attention that some members of the racing internet forum community are convinced that I'm All The Aces. I can unequivocally say I'M NOT All The Aces. Further I don't visit or post on any other racing forum nor do I have the knowledge to answer racing quiz questions nor the time to do the research. My spare time is devoted to improving and maintaining BOAY. As for All The Aces thread I have no opinion on it whatsoever other than he hasn't crossed any lines and is free to write what he wants. Quite frankly it pales by comparison to some of the underhand behaviour that some have undertaken to establish themselves. I guess sanctimonious hypocrisy knows no bounds when it comes to self promotion.
  7. Rule Number(s): 869(4)(6)(b)(c)Following the running of Race 3, the Ashburton MSA Liquor Centre Pace, an Information was filed by Stipendiary Steward Mr R Quirk against Open Horseman Mr R May, alleging a breach of Rule 869(4)(6)(b) (c), in that when driving EL CHAPO, he shifted outwards prior to the 1000m causing the improving ALTA ... 8. Why does it need to be a PM?
  9. Where? To whom? It isn't on the website. I used to get the weekly report but haven't seen one for a year at least.
  10. Geez even under Purcell we got some information. When was the last time we saw some data? Have they dropped the KPI's that they were measuring completely? Saundry makes Purcell the epitome of openness and transparency!
  11. Huge field!
  12. Poisoned Chalice as it was for Allen. The biggest and only mistake was he listened to who was still employed and didn't sack them. Fair enough he bought his own crew in but even they couldn't cut out the rot. Requires someone to come in with the hatchet and carve the rotten wood out.
  13. I assure you Rees (real name) I'm neither All the Aces nor Thomaas.

  19. Chief Executive of Racing Industry Transition Agency to step down 17 September 2019 Racing Industry Transition Agency (RITA) Chief Executive John Allen is stepping down from his role at the end of the year. Mr Allen says the New Zealand Racing Board and now RITA, have invested in critical improvements in betting technology and broadcasting over the last five years and increased customer numbers. “The major programmes of investment are largely completed, creating a strong foundation to grow products for Kiwi punters and profit for the racing industry. “After five years as Chief Executive it is time to begin the search for a new leader to oversee the transition to TAB NZ. “This was a difficult decision, but with the racing reforms underway, it’s timely for someone else to lead the TAB and deliver the revenue growth to support a sustainable racing industry.” RITA Chair Dean McKenzie acknowledged Mr Allen’s leadership since becoming CEO in 2015 during which time there has been important investment in the TAB. “The innovations overseen by Mr Allen have provided the TAB with a solid foundation for growth to support racing and sport in New Zealand, and the Board is optimistic the investments will deliver the returns the industry needs in coming years. “We now need to focus on lifting profits, increasing distributions to racing and improving the betting experience for Kiwi punters. Achieving the outcomes set out in the current reform of racing will play an important part of securing a positive future for racing.” Mr Allen paid tribute to the team at RITA for its support and effort to deliver innovations that he says will have long and lasting benefits for racing. “It has been a great privilege to hold this position and lead an incredible bunch of people. “I also want to acknowledge the huge number of people from across the industry, in the codes, club volunteers, the owners and trainers for their support. There is significant opportunity ahead for the industry and I am genuinely confident of the future.” Mr Allen will stay on until Christmas to support RITA through the next phase of industry reform and to oversee a transition to a new CEO.
  20. I don't agree with a total ban. The key is proper use and I don't think our apprentices are trained properly in that regard if not for the fact that there are very few left who know. It's pleasing to see the time has passed where a jockey doesn't get questioned for NOT using a whip. Good jockey's are horsemen who know when a horse is giving it all or cheating. The vociferous few that are calling for the ban of whips don't want to stop there. They want to ban racing completely! So virtue signalling on banning whips isn't going to stop their crusade.
  21. I know this is from a different code but from my perspective we are all in this together. It was interesting at the weekend that Mevthen Harness couldn't race on their grass track on Sunday due presumably to the status of the repairs they were undertaking. So on the Saturday they made a decision to negotiate another venue. The race meeting was held successfully at Ashburton. This is the perfect use of resources although no doubt it will be used as an argument to close Methven down! Would a galloping meeting been able to transfer as quickly? The only difference in terms of moving raceday infrastructure would be starting gates. Some how I don't see it happening as seamlessly as it did for Methven Harness. Afterall, and Reefton may correct me on this, they couldn't move Kumara to Greymouth or Reefton when Kumara's track wasn't up to speed.
  22. The posts are getting way off topic. So I'm locking it.
  23. There is a declining number of horses racing. It is like the red herring about abandonments - they were budgeted for. If every scheduled race meeting had been held i.e. no abandonments then the stakes funding deficit would have been greater. So in short those closed course meetings don't really need to go anywhere. They just won't be held. Then if you look at it from an overall industry perspective you are costing the industry more - why? Because you have closed cost effective tracks to race less races at more expensive to run tracks. For example I don't see the passionate volunteers travelling miles to help at working bees at Riccarton.
  24. Rule Number(s): 638(3)(b)(ii)Following the running of race 5, Northern Districts Security Ruakaka Cup, an Information was filed pursuant to Rule 638 (3)(b)(ii).
