  8. Given what we have been drip fed so far about AWT's can't we pre-empt what is in the report to support them?

  12. In my opinion it isn't one individual as the same techniques have and are being used on a number of tracks. The focus of most major clubs is on infrastructure for what are declining numbers of spectators on course. The focus should be on the key product - fine equine athletes running on a fair and even surface under fair and equitable rules. We should be afraid of what Winnie will announce. He has already promised a "new All Weather Track" - what form that takes and where it is located and who manages it are the big questions. To build a new track will cost many many millions and most of that will go on infrastructure to support declining numbers of spectators on course. Who will manage it? The current teams who have largely mismanaged what they had and have? No doubt it will result in closures of good racing surfaces throughout the country and the disenfranchising of numerous individuals who have worked hard to maintain their racecourses and clubs while suffering behind the hind tit of the cow. Finally part of Winnie's justification will be the number of abandoned meetings and what it is costing the industry. That is utter utter crap. The abandoned meetings were largely never budgeted for!!!! They wouldn't have paid their way!!
  13. This latest problem has been in the wind for a long time. The propaganda and spin has blinded most until now it is a big big problem. I walked the track one morning about 5 or 6 years ago when I had a horse racing later that day. The inconsistency in the surface of the so called "best track in NZ" was glaringly apparent. Even then there were large pockets of sand and obvious "good lanes." I remember posting these comments on another channel only to be derided. I laughed everytime I saw a prominent member of the club and a Trackside presenter say on Trackside how great the track was!! Grass with a good root structure does not grow on a sand pit.

  21. To be fair it was always going to end in disaster as there is only so many times you can sand slit a track. Te Rapa has been "off" for a number of years now. The remedy worked initially but you can't keep repeating it. Is Ellerslie heading down the same Sandy path?
  22. Then whose fault is the following? Meeting News Waikato Trials Tuesday 21 August The trials to be conducted on the trials track at Te Rapa on Tuesday will be for Open and Maiden horses (over 900m and 1100m) and will have a maximum of 6 horses per heat with the trials restricted to a total of 120 horses.
  23. Disagree she runs a lot more fluently Melbourne way round.
  24. I didn't know there were degrees of pissed. I thought you either were or weren't! In any event on the Timeform ratings Winx is only 3lb below Kingston Town. If she continues through this season unbeaten then she will likely surpass that. I would argue that even Kingston Town couldn't have done what Winx did to win the Warwick Stakes last year. Missing the start and running better than 32.5 for the last 600m was a supremo effort. They broke 1:22 for that race. She backed that up in the Chelmsford. With 300m to run she was still 5 lengths from the leader. I understand her sectionals were sensational.
