Firstly the beauty of GST is everyone pays, not everyone pays income tax, a significant portion of NZ pay 5/8ths of fark all for many reasons. I attended Tauherenikau on Wed and Te Rapa yesterday, one of them had an average 7 race programme, $20 entry, very tired facilities, but had a fantastic atmosphere and a bigger crowd. Te Rapa in comparison has good facilities, a significant population to draw from, big prize money, the best fields assembled in NZ, yet a smaller crowd. Tauherenikau crowd is very weather dependant of course, but there is solutions for NZ racing amongst the above, I just don’t think we have the right people to deliver.
